Home for Cold Noses and Warm Hearts

Pet care experience

Hi! I live in a cozy house with a large fenced yard. I work from home Monday - Friday, and a few days a month at my downtown office (pre-COVID). Each booking day consists of a 24-hour cycle. If you arrive at 7pm, check-out is now at 7pm on your check-out date. Daycare may be available if you need late pick up. You can expect the following from me: I will listen carefully to all of your instructions as well as take notes. I will give your pet love and attention, play and exercise, and a safe, caring environment. I will provide you updates throughout the stay. Why I love dog sitting I’m that friend that will turn down social events so I can hang at home with my pack. It’s fairly obvious I am a huge animal enthusiast when you get to know me. When I moved into my house, the first room that was set up was my kitty lair. Yes, they have their own room, centrally located, with a 6’7” cat tree from which they can lord over the land. My dog, Midge, has beds and water fountains throughout the house. My home is profoundly zen, and the antithesis of what you get at a kennel. No bloodshot eyes, ringing eardrums, or over-stimulation here. I am well versed at reading animal language and know when to step in as the fun police to reduce excitement and keep play from escalating. Playtime is supervised and fair. My dog has successfully completed Ahimsa’s Puppy Kindergarten course and will be working toward her Canine Good Citizen certification in the coming months. My aim is to provide a safe, fun, loving and healthy environment while you are away and take your dog's mind off the fact that their favorite person has stepped out for a bit. Meet my pets I have two sweet, curious, and friendly adult cats. They are currently training my pit bull about the hierarchy in the house. :) In 2016, I adopted the most beautiful puppy I have ever seen in my life. She has a sweet, wonderful temperament and has loved everyone she's met. She already has an impressive portfolio of press releases and video shorts. My wish for her is to be an ambassador of her breed, helping to gain acceptance for American Pit bull Terriers and change the way they are portrayed in media. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the incredulous question, “That’s a pit bull?!?” since I adopted her. About my yard I have a fenced yard, but your dog would never be unattended. There are trees for shade and plenty of room for exploration and play. Given the terrain and the variety of fencing (privacy and chain link) it is best suited for dogs 20 lbs and up. My experience administering medication I can administer pills, eye drops, and change dressings. I do not feel comfortable working with IV drips/injections/needles on animals that are not already a part of my family.

This is the second time Beth has taken care of our cat and chickens and she went above and beyond- she gave so much care and attention to our pets, saved our plants from getting eaten, and even tidied our sink! We were seriously amazed at the level of pet sitting Beth provided.

We booked some drop in visits with Beth and she looked after our cat and chickens while we were traveling. She's wonderfully friendly and provides amazing care for all sorts of animals. We totally recommend Beth as a sitter!

Information Beth D. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know the feeding schedule, favorite treats, health conditions or exercise requirements, potty breaks, behavioral concerns/habits, allergies, techniques that comfort your friend when you separate from them, and any aversions they may have to other dogs, animals, children or adults. Please have your dog up to date on their vaccinations and flea treatment schedule. I prefer to care for only one client's dog(s) at a time in my home, however I am happy to make exceptions for current clients if I can ensure their dogs will get along well. I am happy to care for all breeds (but of course I am partial to a few). I do screen for appropriate size or energy matches when performing Meet & Greets to ensure your dog and mine have a fantastic experience. Deal breakers: I am an experienced pet sitter and animal handler and should an issue or behavioral problem surface, I can usually manage just fine. With that being said, I am committed to maintaining the peace of my home and the well-being of its inhabitants, as well as making sure your dog doesn't experience undue stress that could be avoided with some thoughtful planning. Excessive/nuisance barkers* are not a good fit for my home, and your dog should probably receive care in the comfort of their own surroundings. Same goes for neurotic or high anxiety dogs, I would be open to arrange care in your home for such cases. *Note concerning barkers: this does not include alert or notification barking, that is expected and often one of their hard-wired jobs!

A typical day

Running around the backyard, exploring, and playing a lively game of fetch/Chuck-It, will be our primary activities outdoors. Inside, guests will have access to Midge's plentiful toy bin, which she enthusiastically shares with all, as well as treat games and puzzle toys. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Wherever they like.
