Does your pup have medical needs?

Pet care experience

Let’s face it, finding someone to care for your dog is stressful. Finding someone who can dispense medications or care for your dog after a surgery is even more worrisome. If this is you, look no further—you’ve found your new dog sitter! Whether you are going out of town or just need someone to help care for your pup while you’re at work, I’m here for you. What I bring to the table: 20 years of personal dog ownership, with 13 of those years caring for three dogs with chronic medical conditions and many surgeries. I’ve dedicated the last 4 years to fostering for a local dog rescue, and have successfully adopted out over 20 dogs of all ages. Our foster dogs often arrive with health issues and this has taught me invaluable skills. I can get the most stubborn dog to take their meds, redress wounds like a pro, and get the most fearful dog to become my friend. I can work with puppies on potty training, or change diapers on pups with failing bladders. Have a dog with allergies, stitches, mobility issues, or who needs to wear a cone? No problem. There seems to be a shortage of sitters who have experience caring for elderly or post-op dogs, so I’ve decided that medical care will be my niche on Rover. However, I’m more than happy to take dogs without medical conditions too. I’m available 24/7, including holidays. I will communicate with you as much as you prefer, and send photos and videos while you’re away. I prefer to keep your pup with me at my home where I can keep a watchful eye on them. If they want to explore outside, I have a fully fenced backyard and can let them out as much as they need. I don’t crate dogs, and they will be allowed on the beds and couch (unless you are training them not to.) The couch and beds can be accessed with stairs and ramps. We take protecting spinal cords very seriously around here! In case of emergency, I am familiar with most of the doggy ERs and hospitals in the area. I prefer to take only one dog at a time unless that dog has a housemate who also needs a place to go while their owners are away. If you need someone to take your dog on 5 mile hikes, I may not be a great fit. But if you need a caring, responsible person with hands on medical experience, please contact me today. I look forward to hearing from you!

Information Bengta H. would like to know about your pet

I will need to know about your dog’s eating habits, food restrictions, medications, whether they are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and the name of their preferred veterinarian. Please let me know if they have displayed any resource guarding in the past. (As a precaution, I always feed dogs in separate rooms.) Any other quirks or info would be appreciated.

A typical day

A typical day is one of leisure. A potty break, meds and breakfast will be first on the agenda. Depending on the dog (and weather), we will take a short jaunt around the block followed by a snack and a nap. The rest of the day will be spent in the backyard sunbathing or snuggled up on the couch. If you have a puppy, we will play with toys and maybe even learn how to sit and fetch!
