I think I was born an animal lover! We literally grew up with dogs and cats in the house, horses, cattle and chickens in the yard. For the past three decades, my family has shown Siberian Huskies and Salukis in AKC competition. We've also trained therapy dogs and medical alert dogs and I've volunteered as a dog handler at the Iditarod. I had a two year mentorship under a dog breeder, learning animal husbandry, training and basic animal first aid. My clients have included large show kennels, a mini-ranch, and the beloved pets of various families. My charges have ranged from Mastiffs to mutts...and a few birds and ferrets in-between. My family has provided hospice care to elderly and terminally ill dogs. I have basic first aid training, am now taking classes in canine CPR.
