Dog Mom To A Special Needs Dog

Pet care experience

I'm a life-long dog lover(I like dogs more than people!) , dog-sitter,and dog mom to a special needs Red Heeler mix named Penny who has epilepsy and a traumatic brain injury. She is completely dog friendly and ignores our 2 cats.Side note:we do have 2 cats but they are gated off from the rest of the house where dogs and children can not access to them and they are rarely seen,I have sat cat aggressive-dogs and never had an issue. I'm experienced in dog CPR and first aide as well as administering medication. My house is FULL of a family of dog -lovers,my house is 100% dog -friendly and we have a huge double lot yard that is securely fenced all the way around. I have a 9 year old daughter with severe special needs and a compromised immune system so she has always had a companion dog for comfort and support since she is isolated from people most of the year for her own health. My daughters are active and love to play with and cuddle dogs as much as me.

Becky was great, sending pics of Lola every day with great updates. I found myself looking at these photos often during the day missing our sweet dog. Lola made a new friend (Penny) and got lots of cuddles from Becky's kids. When Lola got a spider bite and allergic reaction to one of her toys, Becky provided frequent updates and even consulted a vet tech she knows. Lola had the time of her life and didn't seem to miss us at all.

A review could never do justice the care and love your dogs will receive while staying with Becky. She kept in touch with adorable pictures of my boys while I was away. She followed up with questions and ensured their planned adventures would be appropriate. I love my dogs with everything I have. Becky and her dear family took care of my boys as though they were her own. They had so much fun and clearly felt so at home with them and I know they’ll be excited to go back next time!

Becky is one of the best human beings I've ever known. Passionately loyal to the people and creatures she loves, she has a gigantic heart. Animals are one her great loves and in the decades we've known each other I've never seen her give any animal less than her sincerest love and care.

I have known Becky for over 10 years and she has been an absolute life saver for my fiance and I! After we moved into our first apartment we found out our Labradoodle, Moxie had serious separation anxiety due to abuse she suffered as a puppy and as a result she would bark the entire time she was left alone; needless to say, our new neighbors and landlord were less than pleased. After exhausting all training/doggy day care options available, I called Becky to see if she could possibly help us. Her schedule was super flexible and she was able to arrange to watch Moxie everyday we needed her to. Moxie is typically skittish around new people but she took to Becky straightaway and hardly even noticed we were gone. Fast forward 6 years, Becky is still my go-to any time we need someone to watch Moxie. Moxie looks forward to her trips to "Aunt Becky's" house and my fiance and I have comfort in knowing Moxie is always in the best hands.

A typical day

I look forward to walking dogs because it is a mutually beneficial activity.I am overweight and need the exercise more than the dogs! This is a great motivation to get off my butt and out of the house.I also take care of my low-functioning Autistic brother full-time he is also overweight and I'd like to have him start joining me on walk for exercise and to keep him stimulated. My dog is very social but lonely and would love to have new friends. Not going to sugar-coat it,my house isn't the nicest or always the cleanest but,I'm hoping with a source of income I can better things.I don't want a handout just a handup,my senior dog we lost a couple years ago was severely incontinent in the latter years of his life and our carpet desperately needs to be replaced. We also unfortunately do not have A/C but we do our very best to cool the house with open windows and fans.We also have a split level house and stay down in the basement where it is MUCH cooler. Me and my kids live and breathe for dogs so they can expect all the love,butt-scratches,exercise and cuddles they can handle <3
