Vet Assistant--Experienced Sitter

Pet care experience

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Available for summer walks at Preddy Creek Trails Park!!!*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I have always had dogs of my own, but the bulk of my experience comes from the 4+ years that I have worked as a veterinary assistant at a local clinic. In the past, I worked at the clinic 25+ hours/week. In late 2017 I left the clinic to work full-time at a refugee resettlement agency on a yearlong AmeriCorps posting. My service period with AmeriCorps ended recently--which is to say, I have very flexible availability for petsitting! From my time at the vet, I am comfortable working with dogs of all shapes and sizes, and am able to give medications (including insulin and subcutaneous fluids) and accommodate special medical needs. As a veterinary assistant, I frequently field questions from pet owners about pet health, and give medical advice on smaller issues--but I can recognize when a situation requires a real veterinarian. Over the past few years, I have petsat periodically, both for personal friends and clients from the clinic. I've worked with a variety of animals--small and large dogs, cats, chickens, sheep & lambs, cows, and parakeets, to be exact. While dogs are the focus here on Rover, I am happy to take care of your other species/small farm as well! Whenever I petsit, I ask owners a series of detailed questions so that I can be prepared for any emergency that may arise--with the pet, of course, but also with the house, if I'm doing a longer stay. For longer stays, I'm happy to water plants and perform minor household tasks/gardening, as needed. I will provide informed, conscientious care while you are at work or traveling. It would be my pleasure to meet and care for you and your pet(s)!

Becca was great! I just needed someone to help burn some puppy energy and she did just that. My dog got a two mile hike each day and came home happy and tired. Becca was very flexible and easy to work with. I'll definitely use her again.

Becca was absolutely amazing. My cat that hides/runs away from everyone other than my husband, my son, and myself, actually cuddled up to her while we were gone! Not only was she great with our animals, she was also very professional and honest. She came out to the house to meet our pups and took notes on everything we discussed. We ended up having some date/scheduling changes after we had already booked and paid, and she offered to give us a complete refund if we wanted to find another pet sitter that could stay for the full length of our trip. But we liked Becca so much and felt comfortable leaving the country with her taking care of our pets, and decided to find someone to take over for the last night instead of the whole trip. She even left a note for the next pet sitter with her name and number on it in case they had any questions. Thank you so much Becca!!

I have known Becca since she was in elementary school and she has always been an animal lover. She likes all kinds of animals and has had many different types of pets. Becca has been my pet sitter for a number of years (for both dogs and cats) and I trust her completely. Since she has also worked at a veterinary clinic, I feel comfortable leaving my pets even when they need daily medication. She will be a responsible care giver no matter what kind of animal you have. I only hope she does not become too busy at Rover to care for my animals when I need her!

Becca stayed with our dog Max for the weekend! She did a GREAT job! Max was a very happy pup. She took him for long walks, which he loves and even let him jump on the haybales (his absolute favorite things). She kept the house beautifully and the energy when we returned was positive and good! We are so grateful that Becca came and stayed with Max, so we could attend a family function out of state. Thank you Becca!!

Information Becca F. would like to know about your pet

I like to know: -feeding and bedtime routines -favorite toys -vaccination status & medical history -sensitivities/triggers: any areas NOT to pet? Is your dog territorial during mealtimes? -friendliness level towards other pets: do I need to keep him on a short leash when other dogs walk by? When he sees a cat? -friendliness level towards strangers: does Pup just like to bark, or is there a chance she'd actually chase the mailman? I have no major breed preferences. However, for larger dogs (>60 lbs.), I need to be sure I (an average-sized woman) can manage them on walks. A rambunctious Cocker Spaniel is okay; a rambunctious Mastiff may be too much! The same applies to dogs that have aggressive tendencies towards other dogs or people.

A typical day

Your pup can expect neighborhood walks (high or low energy, as preferred), fetch and play, belly rubs and head scratches, and lots of attention. If there are trails or a park nearby, we can definitely go there to walk!
