Welcome to my profile! I'd love to care for your pets in the SE and NE close-in neighborhoods of Portland. I love walking dogs, playing with them, and am very interested in what makes them feel loved and happy. I just love animal energy and enthusiasm! I'm a working artist, so it's also likely that I'll sketch your pet if I have enough time with them. I'm always happy whenever I'm provided with information about what they like, how they like their environment, and I'm careful in your home. I do my very best to make them feel as secure and contented as possible while you're away, which can be a stressful time for many pets. I'm 100% cyclist, so I don't need parking for a vehicle. This can be a huge blessing in apartment homes where street parking is limited! I have cared for family pets and neighbor's pets all my life. My own dog passed of old age at the end of 2022. I miss him still daily, but I am free to house and pet-sit without the complication of my own to care for in addition to yours. I am also very experienced with chickens and rodents. While she was growing up, my daughter and I also walked dogs and fostered animals as volunteers for the King County Shelter in Kent, WA, before we failed as fosters and adopted our adorable and loving Cockelier Donut. I have experience with senior cats and dogs as well. My Bengal cat Molly lived to be 21!

This was our second time booking with Barbara for dog and house sitting and we rebooked with her for good reason! She does such a great job attending to our pups’ needs with care and attention to detail. She is reliable, communicative, and an overall kind person. Our dogs were safe, happy, and at ease in her care.
Barbra was amazing! Our first time using Rover, and she made the whole process so easy. Arrived on time, was super communicative, sent great updates of the cats and left our home spotless. We’re excited to have her house/cat sit again this summer! Already booked and looking forward to knowing Frank & Beans will be in great hands. 10/10 would recommend Barbra to anyone looking for a pet sitter.

Information Barbara H. would like to know about your pet
I need to know if you have a dog who pulls heavily or tries to run after other critters, and if there's a Halti or such device to use for walks. Happy to work with dogs who have some issues, as long as I have plenty of information to work with and plenty of treats to help them through their anxiety. However, I do draw the line at pet who have bitten anyone, nip, or try to bite. I appreciate complete honesty up front if your pet has any special conditions or medical issues.
A typical day
Let me know their favorite places to go, and favorite things and activities at home. It's great to socialize pets and do fun new things, and I also want to know their limits and what works best for them. A happy and relaxed pet when you get home is my goal.
