I'll be a doggy Grandma to your pet

Pet care experience

I've had dogs and other animals all my life. When we had to say farewell to our dog, Copper, it left a huge hole in my heart. She was 14 when she became very sick. I would love to care for and spend time with your pet. When we're inside, we'll sit on the sofa, sometimes in front of a fire in the fireplace. If your pet likes fetch, I'll toss toys to her/him. (I throw toys from the family room to the far end of the kitchen which is a nice distance for the dog) We'll also go for walks around the neighborhood or by the towpath (if that's OK with you). If the weather is nice, sometimes we'll sit outside on the patio. One time I dog sat a friend's 3 dogs for a long weekend along with my dog (before she passed). They had fun and everything went very well. When I watch your dog, you can go on vacation and not worry. If your dog is over 60 pounds he/she might be too large for me if they pull or jump too much. We could meet to see if we're a good match.

Marley seems to have had a great time. Barb sent daily photos and videos and kept me informed on how he was doing. Walks several times a day provided. Would definitely use again and highly recommend.

Barbara was great with our puppy Ginny! It was our first time leaving her with a sitter, and Barbara took away any anxiety we had. She was very communicative, sent updates each day, and took great care of our pup!

Barb did a terrific job with Biscuit! She thoughtfully sent pics and videos when we were away and followed all our instructions. Biscuit was calm and happy when we picked him up! Thanks for watching him so carefully and lovingly!

Safety, trust & environment

I usually walk the dogs in my neighborhood but sometimes we'll go to a park or walk on the towpath (if it's OK with the owner). I enjoy the walks. The first thing in the morning, and late after noon walks are usually 15- 30 minutes. I also take them for several short walks (10 minutes) during the date. At night when it's dark out, if they need to go outside, we stay in my back yard. I have a basket of toys they can play with or I'll throw them for the dog to fetch.

Information Barbara B. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know their feeding schedule, if they have any special likes or dislikes, your Vet's name and phone number in case of emergency, your phone number or email so I can send you pictures and contact you if necessary, can they ride in my car, and anything else you think I should know. Does your dog have a license and required shots? I know many are very nice but I prefer 'non-aggressive' breeds.

A typical day

I live in a nice neighborhood. I'll spend time petting your dog, scratching her ears, and rubbing her tummy. Sometimes if an under 40 pound dog can't walk well because of age or health I'll take her for a walk in my dog stroller so she can have fun spending time outside seeing squirrels, birds, and other interesting sights.

Availability

I'm currently retired (except for occasional pet sitting) and am home a lot. During the day I play online duplicate bridge several days a week which lasts approximately two hours. I also country line dance one or two evenings a week for a few hours. Sometimes I go to the gym for a couple hours. Other than that, I'm usually home unless I have an errand. For stays 14 days or longer I offer a discount. Rover did not have an area for me to describe this but I would be happy to discuss it with you if interested. I recently added that I will do pick up and drop off (this service is for pets 20 minutes or less from my home).
