The pawfect play pal for your furry BFF :)

Pet care experience

After over a hundred Rover bookings in under a year, I have seen dogs of every size, breed, creed, colour and comportment - more than even I could imagine! I am very proud of all the work I have done, as this is a dream job for me, and I'm super excited for the upcoming year to meet even more playpals and cuddle buddies! I do this full-time now, animals are my whole life, so I guarantee from start to end of the booking that your pets will be showered with affection (or not if that's their thing!) and taken care of as if they were my own. Since I do this full-time, you don't have to worry about me disappearing during a house-sit to go to a 9-5 on the sly; at most, I will leave to go shopping or do some socialising, and the occasional local drop-in nearby. I set a soft-limit of away time at 2 hours total, and a hard limit of 5 during an emergency. This can absolutely be negotiated to lower if you like (I understand all pets have different needs - hello attachment and separation anxiety!), but what it essentially means is, if I had to leave the house for longer than two hours due to an emergency, I would contact you - or an emergency contact - if I was expected to be away for more than 5 hours. If you'd like that emergency-limit to be shorter, let me know, I'm incredibly flexible and adaptable! Here's a little about me and my pet experience: I've had dogs and cats as pets ever since I was a baby - my family used to foster dogs too when I was 8-13; we had 5 dogs and 3 cats under one roof all at the same time at one point! I currently have my own miniature dachshund puppy, Ori, who is a very good boy and sometimes accompanies me on jobs (at the client's discretion of course!) as well as his brother and mum at home - we also have a husky and two black cats! I'm very adept at walking, feeding, bathing and brushing (new coat season is an absolute nightmare at home with Luna), aaaand most importantly playing! Size is absolutely no issue for me as I have experience with both ends of the spectrum. At home with my dogs, as long as it isn't freezing, I like to keep the door to the garden open as much as possible so that they're free to come and go as they please. Of course, if that's not possible or if it's cold and the heating's on, regular potty breaks are a must! I'm used to crating dogs at night time from when my family fostered them since it promotes healthy boundaries between them, but if that's not your style and you like them roaming free (my favourite approach since it promotes surprise attack morning kisses) then I'm all for it. When my puppy was little we set up super healthy routines with naptimes in his pen and now at 7 months, even though he's started sleeping in my bed with me, he's more than happy to go into his pen to calm down after a play session or if I go out, so I fully understand the appeal and importance of both approaches. Cats are also no stranger to me! I quite often get told "My cat isn't really a people person so they may just hide when you stay" only for me to end up with them snuggled on my lap and following me around the house within a couple of days. I take a very gentle, relaxed approach when handling any animal, dog or cat, and I cannot stress enough the importance of letting them come to me first to initiate greetings and affection. I'll lay on the floor for half an hour with my eyes closed and my limbs outstretched just so they can see me as vulnerable and nonthreatening as possible if that's what it takes for them to let their guard down. Whether your cat is a pampered indoor prince/princess, or a savvy outdoor adventurer, I'm very confident that we will get along perfectly! I know some indoor cats can be escape artists, so do let me know in advance so I can be extra wary of doors and windows during my first visit with them in case they get spooked by a stranger in their kingdom! Whatever your pal needs - I will do it - their comfort and sense of stability is all that matters! Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything at all I can do to ease your mind, as I know that it can be anxiety-inducing to trust your fur-babies with someone else when you're not around :)

Our cat Lola is an anxious cat, so we knew we couldn't use a cattery as it would be too stressful, but we'd never used a pet sitting service before either. I chose Avery based on the wonderful previous reviews, and I'm so glad I did. From start to finish Avery explained how the whole process worked, came to visit Lola beforehand, and sent us updates throughout our trip away. I never once worried about Lola whilst we were away, because from the photos I could see how much Lola loved Avery, even climbing up onto her shoulders to greet her. When we got home Lola was relaxed and happy, you wouldn't have even known we'd been away for three weeks! We won't hesitate to use Avery again, and we'd recommend her to anyone!

I typically ask my clients to write a detailed to-the-point infosheet outlining any routines they have with their animals. I offer bespoke, tailored, luxury care, and I strive to make sure every letter of that infosheet is followed to a T. The goal is complete and utter stability and comfort for your pets, so even though it is a general "I will do anything your pets need" it truly is the only way to describe it, since every pet is different and no one way of doing things can apply to all. The only constant is my diligence, my affection, my professionalism and my unending compassion for animals! You'll receive plenty of pictures and video updates during the stay, and feel free to ask me if it's been a while since the last one and you're missing your babies :) In regards to the home: I can take care of plants; I always sweep and/or hoover the floor the day before I leave a house-sit; any dishes I use will be washed; counters will be clean; the bin will be taken out, any mail you receive will be left unopened in a safe area away from potential pet-based destruction, I am also more than happy to wash bedsheets and remake the bed upon your return. For house-sits that end before you get home, I typically will send you a video showing the state of each room, showing how I've locked up and where I've put keys, where the dogs are etc.

Information Avery G. would like to know about your pet

Please don't hesitate to tell me about any of your dog's favourite things, special needs or habits, quips and tricks and quirks. All I want is for them to feel super comfortable and at home with me. I'd especially love to know what their favourite treats and tricks are, so I can go straight for them during our bonding session and have them fall in love with me at first lick!

A typical day

A typical day at home for me starts at around 8am - wake up, let the dogs out, and then immediately back to bed or the living room for cuddles. I like to scroll on my phone, watch youtube videos for a bit while snuggling any animals I have with me. At home, my dogs eat meals at the same time I eat meals - breakfast is at 10am, lunch (treats for the dogs) is at 2pm, and dinner is at 6pm - however this changes quite a lot depending on my clients' needs, so breakfast and walk time might have already elapsed. 11am is usually when I get active - I love a midday hour+ long walk or indoor play session (my dogs are fair-weather walkers and hate going out in the rain), Ori loves to fetch and be chased around the house and garden. Sometimes I'll move the furniture around to create obstacles and runways in the rooms so he has to use all his senses to find the toys I throw, and then I'll hide somewhere for him to find me when he brings it back! That's definitely my favourite game to play. After that it's nap time around 12:30-1pm. At this point I'll typically go on my laptop and do some music or work, or maybe play some games with my friends! Ori can get hyper around 5pm, so we'll usually play for a short while then too to exhaust his remaining energy for the day, or we'll do some command training to get his brain fired up before dinner. Then for the rest of the night he's chill as can be, lots of snuggles and lazy wrestling with his brother and mum, sofa time while I watch a movie, etc! I usually go to bed late, around midnight or so, and Ori crawls under the covers with me until the next morning when we do it all again!

I petsit full-time now, animals are my whole life, so I can dedicate 100% of my time during the booking towards taking care of your babes - my entire daily routine is centred around my puppy anyway, so it's no skin off my teeth to adapt to the many different schedules and routines that I juggle across all of my clients' households.
