Pet care experience
I have worked as a part time dog walker for the past 2 and a half years on Rover, and other similar apps. I’ve owned dogs and cats (and more!) all my life, and I just love them to death, in a good way! I’m currently in school, and I work part-time with a dog daycare, too. I’m looking for walks and sittings that will allow me to spend time with pets during my free time, and earn some money as a college student. I am also working towards my dog trainer certification and look for every opportunity to learn from dogs and practice some of my basic skills. I am unable to care for pets in my home as I am currently living in a dorm. During sittings, I always make sure to keep to their routines, as I know how important these are for pets to feel comfortable. I am loving and will spend lots of time paying attention to them, walking them or playing with them at the house. I have experience with long overnight sittings as well as just drop ins, and experience working with dogs in general, so have a strong understanding of their needs and behaviors.

I don’t even know where to start with how amazing Ava is. Ava is so attentive. We had a meet and greet prior to our departure to make the dogs as comfortable as possible. Ava was as able to pick up on each dogs personality immediately , their wants, needs and level of comfort with her . Knowing that Ava and the dogs were comfortable with each other put us all at ease. Where Ava just went above and beyond - While we were away a storm hit and we ended up losing power to our home for almost 2 days, Ava was so responsive with updates and collaboration on what would be best for her, the dogs and our home. She sent daily pictures and videos that the entire family enjoyed. I really can’t say enough great things! Shes the best! Book with Ava, unless I need her:)

Ava did a great job taking care of my 11.5 year old dog. He was well cared for and showed no signs of distress even though he has in the past sulked and lost weight if I leave him. Highly recommend her and will use her again!!
Ava has always loved animals--every pet she meets is the best and cutest! She is very organized and responsible. If she is asked to do something, she does it well with care and attention. I would trust her completely with any of my pets.

My key to building trust with the pets in their homes is patience and kindness. I won’t ever rush a pet to feel comfortable with me around, but instead I stick to their routines, care for them, let them know that they can trust me to be in charge, and really give them the space. 99% of the time, this approach forms a strong bond with the pets that I walk and/or sit. Kindness is the other key, as it is part of how you build that trust. I really genuinely love the pets and treat them with respect and care.

It is good to know if they are reactive at all to their surroundings so I know what to be aware of, and how to manage the environment to limit their stressors.
A typical day
I love exploring your neighborhoods and areas in dog walks! I stick to your rules of the road with them: what commands do you use, how do they prefer to walk on the leash, etc. This way, we’re both comfortable with exploring together!

Availability
My main priority is their schedules! I am currently fairly flexible in my hours and availability, and I much prefer that their routines are as unchanged as possible if I can make that work. I am upfront about my schedule so that you know, too, what kind of care your pet is going to get from me.
