Pet care experience
I just moved to San Jose two months ago from San Diego, and a few months prior to moving I worked at a dog boarding & training facility that specialized in relationship-based training. The facility offered board and train programs and I would handle the pickups, dropoffs, behavioral assessments, playtimes, training and walking sessions, feedings, medications, and also assisted with the board and train programs. At that facility, I accumulated close to 100 hours of relationship-based training with many dogs of different breeds, backgrounds, and behaviors. I am experienced with basic obedience, recall, engagement, behaviors, socialization, impulse control/ counterconditioning, and walking(leash and harness)/loose leash walking (slip lead, and gentle leader)!!

Austin did a wonderful job taking care of our pets and home. It is always stressful leaving our precious pets and he put us at ease. He communicated regularly, along with pictures, and didn't mind when our dogs wanted to hog the bed at night with him:) In addition to taking care of our dogs and bunnies, he also went above and beyond with little things. I’ve worked with Austin for a couple months at a dog board and train facility for a few months, however I’ve known him for years in high school. Most importantly with walking dogs, I value the connection and I want to establish a good relationship with any dog I have the opportunity to work with. It is my priority to make sure that your dog(s) feels safe and loved along with having a developed mutual respect for both I and the dog. And second, I will never place any dog into an environment or situation that could be harmful for the it's psychical and mental well-being. Lastly, I believe communication is essential and I will always strive for strong and open communication to help any client feel trusting of their pet being in my care. And I will happily help talk through any troubles or concerns that are expressed!

A typical day
I love to walk dogs in many different environments, such as out in nature, on a hike, any parks with a great atmosphere, through neighborhoods, and also through pet friendly public areas. But I will only choose an environment that is best suited for conditions of the weather and also best suited for the dog!

Availability
I work 5 days a week at a local butcher shop in San Jose, and do not work on the weekends and before 12 P.M. on weekdays. I would love to utilize my free time to gain more experience/time with dogs of all different backgrounds! I feel confident with my knowledge and want to gain more knowledge and experience with new dogs and with new environments. I believe that there is always something new to learn, so I want to expand my knowledge as much as possible in this field to develop my skills and understanding as a dog behaviorist/trainer.
