Pet Lover, Dog Walker, Housesitter

Pet care experience

I have a decade's worth of experience taking care of pets. I've been responsible for puppies who still needed vet visits and constant attention; adult dogs with anxiety issues; senior dogs with medical and physical requirements; and have followed through on detailed training from the owners. I've had cats my whole life, and when I became an adult, I dedicated time to learning about cats' personalities, care requirements, health concerns and indications, and how best to handle kittens to elder cats. I'm familiar with multiple litters, from clay to crystal to natural, so I'm aware of the different cleaning techniques and whether a cat will use it. I've taken care of a host of pets, like bearded dragons, fish, lizards, frogs, geckos, snakes, even ant farms. I love all types of animals, so it's always an adventure meeting new creatures! I am cat and dog first-aid certified by the American Red Cross, insured by Pet Care Insurance, and a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). I take the safety and happiness of your pets seriously! As a full-time online student and gig worker, I make sure to dedicate my time to whichever housesitting, dog walking, and/or pet visits that I have scheduled. I do not board pets in my own home, but I have always been very respectful of others' homes that I am watching or visiting to check in on pets. I double check all of the locks, dispose of any waste or trash as necessary, ensure that the pets have the necessities like water, food, and toys, among others. If a dog gets dirty, I will make sure the owner is okay with me giving the dog a bath. I have playtime with every pet that wants it, at least 10 minutes, and stick to whatever training schedule the owner sets. When housesitting, I will make sure the house is clean and ready so the owners arrive to a neat home.

Audrey is wonderful! It was a great experience working with her. Our cat Delilah is very shy and easy to get anxious. Audrey is very kind and patient, and Delilah was taken good care of. I look forward to working with Audrey again soon.

Audrey took such good care of our two kitties. It was our first time using Rover, so we were a little nervous about leaving our boys in care of someone we didn't know. But when we met Audrey, she made us very comfortable and answered all our questions. We loved the updates and photos she sent us on our trip. And both of our cats warmed up to her by the end with purrs! (Even from our shyest one). We'd definitely use her again - your fur babies will be in great hands!

Audrey took very good care of our two cats while we were out of town for a week. She came every morning to feed and look after them and she spent time each visit trying to engage and play with them. (Our girls are shy and hid.) Every day she sent us pictures of Daisy and Lily even if they were under the bed. Thanks Audrey!

Audrey P. is a true animal caregiver and lover. She went so above and beyond to take care of my 2 fur babies during our trip and wedding. She us flexible, a good communicator, and takes lots of cute pictures keeping my mind at ease every step of the way. I will rebook her anytime I need a friend to watch my kitty and special needs dog!! Thanks for everything Audrey!

Information Audrey P. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if there are any special needs or restrictions for your pets. I am proficient with administering medication in pill, liquid, and cream form, and can learn from you the best way for your pet. Please inform me of any training you are working on with your pets so that I can assist. If you have a larger dog, please let me know if they jump so I can ready myself!

A typical day

I love to give dogs and cats time to expend their energy and feel comfortable around me. When on walks, I make sure the dogs smell everything, explore new areas if allowed by the owners, and get a mixture of walking and jogging (running as well, if the owner wants it). If the dogs are leash-aggressive or dog-averse, I'll make sure to go somewhere with fewer dogs around. Whatever is necessary for a good walk and a fun time! If with the pets at home, I make sure they have the attention they need. I keep with me a handy little laser pointer for cats, one that has five different shapes along with the regular red dot, and even lazy cats seem to have a fun time chasing a laser butterfly or mouse! I've watched senior dogs and cats before, and I've cared for three of my own senior cats, so I know that it's imperative they get exercise to stay healthy. With that in mind, I can adjust walks to a shorter route and/or slower walk time, or even forego the walk and do activities at home that are gentler, like playing fetch in the backyard or hide and seek with treats inside. It can be more difficult to get elderly cats to be more active, so if allowed, I usually use treats as encouragement to get them to move around.
