Animal lover with open schedule

Pet care experience

I’ve taken care of and owned dogs and cats of all kinds my whole life. Neighbors, friends, and family have all entrusted their furry and feathery (I have experience with birds as well) friends in my care. I am familiar with animal first aid (bandages, antibiotics, pain medications, etc.) as well as animal safety around bodies of water (life jackets around pools/beaches, etc.) I also know how to care for young kittens and puppies and have bottle fed. As a life time pet owner/lover I know how much others care about their furry children. I am a service dog handler so I completely understand the bond between human and animal and treat every animal as if they were my own.

Aspen is my college roommate, and from the first day I met her, I knew she was one of the good ones and that I could trust her. She is a very gentle and caring person to me and everyone I've seen her interact with. Aspen is very responsible, mature, and always thinks before she acts. When it comes to animals, she is even kinder. The way I have seen her interact with her dog is heart warming. She cares a lot about animals and knows how to treat them with the upmost kindness, while still holding them accountable to their training. If I ever needed somebody to care for my animals (or even myself) I would go to her.

Aspen is one of the most compassionate people I know to people and animals alike. Because she has grown up with animals her entire life, she is very empathetic to their needs. With her own dog Eddie, I have seen firsthand how well she reacts to Eddie's body language and can pick up on whatever she may need. Sometimes I think Aspen has a superpower because of how nothing gets past her. Aspen will pick up when Eddie has something in her mouth she should not have from across the room. Aspen will be a great pet sitter not only because of her skills with animals but also with people. She is an amazing listener and will make sure your pet is treated just as if you were home with them too. Aspen will be a great addition to any family, and I hope that you take her under serious consideration when looking for a new pet sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced in yard, a retired service dog (male Labrador) and a working service dog (female Labrador), as well as two cats (one male and one female). I am used to picking up animal waste, grooming, and playing for hours on end.

Information Aspen S. would like to know about your pet

It is important for me to meet the pet ahead of time to ensure the pet is as comfortable as possible. It is important for me to know if the dog is reactive, crate trained, large/small breed, has any fears/phobias, routine, commands, behavioral problems, special needs(more below), any medications that need to be taken, etc. As an individual who has medical needs of their own I know how imperative it is to have top notch care when needed. Special needs pets have a big soft spot with me as I know how difficult things can be.

A typical day

I love to help engage dogs mentally and physically and give them the best enrichment I can! We’ll play fetch, tug-a-war, brain games, sniff on walks, and so much more! I’m very adaptive so if the dog wants to lay on a couch and chill or play fetch for hours I’m good with all activity levels.
