I’m Ashley! I’m 25 years old and currently live in Hilton in Newport News, VA. I grew up in a pet friendly household, and have over 15 years of experience caring for dogs. I currently have 2 pups, an adult female Beagle and a young Rottweiler/Border Collie mix. Most of my experience has been caring for hounds, but I am comfortable working with all breeds. Additionally, I have experience caring for dogs with various health conditions. For example, my beagle has gone through heartworm treatment and different surgeries from tooth extractions to a routine spay. I live in the Hilton area and always walk my dogs through the neighborhood. I love playing, running and just giving dogs companionship. I’m primarily available for drop-ins and walks, but can overnight sit in my home depending on the day and duration. With my years of caring for dogs, I’ve learned to understand their language and learn about what they want. Are they tired? Do they need to be out longer? I boarded my puppy with Ashley for a weekend. She sent me updates and photos daily and also did really well with feeding and sleeping instructions for my pup. I really trusted she was in good hands. I have a mid-sized fenced in backyard, with 2 loving dogs to keep your pups company. I also have a wonderful neighborhood in which I can walk your dog. Additionally, when walking or doing drop-ins, I will give your dog my undivided attention to ensure all of their needs are met. I want your dog to feel comfortable, and will do everything I can to ensure this.

A typical day
Each morning, a few hours after breakfast, we take our dogs outside and let them play and exercise their minds and bodies. Sometimes this is a walk around the Hilton neighborhood or just playing in our backyard. We repeat this cycle throughout the day so they have at least 2 hours outside. At night, we feed them and take them out 2 hours after (to prevent bloat) to let them exert energy before bedtime.

Availability
I currently work full-time with a flexible schedule. My office is located only 7 minutes away so I’m able to come home multiple times a day when I’m not working from home. My husband, a fellow dog lover, works from home full time. We strive to walk our dogs at least once a day when the weather is nice. We also give them plenty of outside time to ensure their mind and body stays active. I also give my dog “puzzles” when they’re unable to get outside. When caring for dogs, I will offer the same vigilance with your pets as I do my own. Dogs are social animals, and love human interaction.
