I will be your dogs second BFF

Pet care experience

I'm that girl who at a social gathering finds the nearest pet to hang out with. Your dog and I will fall for each other over long walks through the neighborhood and hikes in the woods, if you so allow. I began dog/house sitting when my schedule wasn't conducive to owning a dog, but I still REALLY wanted one and ended up enjoying the walks and companionship perhaps more than the pups themselves. I currently work from home, so you can feel assured your dog can get all the attention and care he/she needs. We will all benefit from the friendship and exercise and you, as the dog owner, have one less thing to worry about! I will be happy to curl up on the couch with the less social/less mobile just as much as I enjoy taking your dog to socialize or a walk around the neighborhood. I've lived with 2 dogs (a chihuahua and a pit bull) in the past and am able to adapt to the schedule their bladders, energy levels, and stomachs are used to. I will follow their special diet and/or feeding schedule to a tee. I will find extra joy in sending updates and photos of our time together so you know they are getting the best possible care. I just adore grey hounds, however I am not as keen on St. Bernards. I also have experience in sitting cats and birds, so if you have other animals that need looked after I am happy to get to know them as well. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to ask and if there are additional services you may need help with (checking the mail, watering plants, ect) I am happy to help. I also am open to vet visits, if you’re in a bind, for an additional charge. I look forward to meeting you and your dog soon!

Always does a wonderful job does well with Sadie (my dog) and usually always has the time I need. And when she’s busy she’ll find a time that works for the both of us.

Ashley is a "keeper!" She was easy to communicate with, reliable, competent, and sweet to our two furry family members. I really appreciated her flexibility; when our schedule changed at the last minute, she graciously accommodated. We chose her "blindly" on Rover and are so glad we did. Completely happy with our experience and will definitely call on her again. Thank you very much Ashley!

Ashley is a fantastic listener and communicator. She's great with pets and humans. I have a fearful dog who has struggled with strangers in the past. Ashley was willing to go slow and take our time meeting him and making sure he felt comfortable. She took photos during her visit and wrote a great follow up. Definitely recommend!

Information Ashley P. would like to know about your pet

Has your dog experienced separation anxiety? Is it likely he/she will eat less or not at all, hide in it's favorite safe place, or use the bathroom inside? Is he/she prone to chewing on shoes or getting into the trash? Do they come from a (previously) abusive home? If yes, are there tactics you find useful that they are accustomed to? Have they bitten anyone? Do they play well with others; dogs and humans? How are they in a social setting? (e.g. dog friendly establishments and outdoors)

A typical day

My favorite thing to do is a morning a walk through the neighborhood to welcome the day and a nightly walk to end it. Your pup will have the opportunity to hike to Catawba Falls or maybe just along French Broad River and to the dog park. Is your best friend seeking another doggy playmate? Perfect, I would love to set one up with my best friend's dog, Ivy who is a lover of other pets. Or we can just snuggle up on the couch if your pup is a little timid.
