Caring For Your Best Friend

Pet care experience

Hi there! My name is Ashley and I am a 32 year old pet-owner and care giver. Apart from my life long personal experience caring for family pets growing up, I and my husband have been caring for our own best-friend, Sophie, since we adopted her back in 2017. On top of this I have an additional year of experience caring for shelter animals with the Charleston Animal Society as an adoptions counselor. Although, I am no longer employed by the shelter, I continue to volunteer during my free time at their facility. In this line of work I have cared for many types of animals including senior/large breed/special needs animals. I believe strongly that, much like people, animals have their own special histories, characteristics, needs and types of care that they require.

Safety, trust & environment

Thanks to my experience in a shelter environment, I have had dog handling training-plus hundreds of hours of walking and playing with dogs up to 90 lbs. Likewise, I am comfortable with administering most medications to animals as well as providing light cleaning services relating to potty accidents inside the home. I do not hold a certificate in animal training, but I have worked alongside animal behavior professionals and possess both a clear understanding of many animal behaviors as well as respect for positive-only behavioral practices. In other words, I always give healthy treats and affection for appropriate behaviors, but would never treat an animal inhumane-ly for poor or inappropriate behaviors. I want you and your pet to see me as someone worthy of your trust and respect, always.

Information Ashley P. would like to know about your pet

In the spirit of putting my best paw forward, I'd like to know some things about your pet before we get started. Please let me know about: • Specific Behaviors or Medical Concerns • Detailed Instructions for Administering Medications • Other Special Needs (Senior/Paraplegic/Blind/etc.) • Commands Preferred/Types of Training Recieved • Housebroken/ Not Housebroken • Treats/Touch to Avoid • Favorite Places/Routes to Walk/Avoid • Activity Level Although I am comfortable with working with large dogs and bully breeds, for my and your pet's safety, I do ask that dogs larger than 50lbs have good leash skills to accomodate a full 30-minute session. At this time, I also only confirm daylight hour bookings.

A typical day

When going on walks we'll have up to 30-minutes each session to go on either Potty Breaks or Sniff Walks around your neighborhood. I'm happy to bring their favorite toys along for extra stimulation/redirection or to get some exercise in the yard/at a nearby neighborhood dog park. I'll also provide pre-approved treats to help reinforce those walking and behavioral skills our friend may be working on. When dropping in we'll have up to 30-minutes each session to play, socialize, recieve medications, reinforce training, and exercise. Let me know before booking if there are any other needs or expectations you have for my time with your loved one! On top of this, you are guaranteed quality photos of the great time we're having taken during any of our sessions.
