Pet care experience
I have helped care for many animals periodically for friends and family over the last few years, and began pet sitting professionally for the past year, feeding them while they are away, taking them on walks, bathroom breaks, etc. I find lots of joy in taking care of animals.

I don't like leaving reviews that may hurt someone, but this is about taking responsibility for your actions. I booked Ashley for a week. I have 2 large working dogs. They seemed to like her for the meet and greet, and I felt comfortable leaving my dogs/home. I noticed during texting that there was defensiveness. I am not about to go into battle with someone’s ego, because they will always think they are right, but after the things that were said to me, I decided to leave a review. I came home to a bleached stain on my large rug (that was my parents). I asked her about it, and in came the defensiveness. I asked why she didn’t tell me, and she replied she could not help where Elliott puked, and maybe it was a chemical reaction from the stomach bile. She also said “I am not the one who puked on your rug, I am the one who cleaned it up for you”. I was shocked at this response. The thing is, the dog wouldn’t have puked if she wasn’t giving them raw bones everyday. I left three pages of detailed notes that were not read obviously. I clearly stated that raw bones shouldn’t be given but every 3 days. I clearly stated all information. I was really upset that she was so combative when she could have just let me know in the first place, instead of me coming home to this. It was not a cheap rug and I don’t have the money to replace it at this point. It was sentimental. I also found that two glasses were gone or most likely broken (which is probably why the garbage went out before I got home), because the house was in disarray. My cast iron pans were both dirty and she didn’t clean them or ask me how to clean them. The sink was dirty and there was dog food in the sink strainer and other things just sitting there on dirty counters. The dishes she used were still sitting on the counter. The raw dog food bone bags were left open in the freezer and it was just general carelessness. It was like having an irresponsible person who doesn’t give a dam about your space but is just doing the bare minimum to get by. The dogs had gained weight and were clearly bloated from the amount of bones/food she was giving them. They were not themselves. I also noticed the few plants I asked her to check on were yellowing because she didn’t give them a small amount of water like I asked her too. She also accused me of making unfounded accusations when I was trying to figure out how my rug got ruined. That is when I decided to leave a review. I would not suggest her as a pet sitter because she obviously had no respect for my instructions or things, and she did not read the instructions to avoid puking situations or how to keep the dogs in good shape. I also think someone else was there at times but I can’t prove it. I will be installing pet sitter cameras at this point and I don’t know if I will have strangers stay at my house again because of this experience.
This is waaaay too long so I'll start with the most important points: We spent the day we got back (early) from our trip at an emergency vet for two dogs and one cat due to the care we did not received, and have now had to order and install a new door because of how ruined our door was when we returned. We booked and had many conversations with Ashley a month in advance of our trip and gave opportunities to meet, greet, and answer any questions because we know we ask A LOT!! of a sitter for our babies. We believed this sitter was confident in the care required, but less than 24 hours after the booking started, the sitter let us know she could no longer handle the care we were asking for. We originally booked 4+ days of care. We woke up to vulgar and belittling opinions on how we care for our animals even though the expectations (8 pages worth unfortunately lol) were laid out ahead of time. We were put in a horrible situation over 2,300 miles away scrambling to find care while also very aware that we were now reliant on someone incapable of caring for our animals. Our pets got into and ate poison (traps), duct tape, and food in the basement. They were left in their kennels for 13 + hours the first night without bathroom breaks. My cat had gone without a consistent meal for two days and even lost weight. My large 75lb dog was eating the wrong portions of food (eating the amount for a 45lb dog) and was very hungry when we returned. I paid for extended care, but found out that they were only visiting for a couple of hours and leaving. This sitter made it out to be our fault for the condition we would come home to. ("maybe you need to do this, maybe you should do better at this, etc") All of this happened in less than 48 hours. I believe if you need someone to just let your dogs out, maybe walk, and leave without special attention, this is your sitter --And there is NOTHING wrong with that level! If you need someone capable of helping high-drive, highly-trained dogs stick to a normal routine with minimal stress, you may struggle like we did. Our dogs knew what type of sitter they had and severely took advantage of this person. We expected a lot more with the confidence this sitter portrayed and the price they have set. It was clear this individual did not read the materials or prepare ahead of time. We are now paying for it and received maybe a third of our payment back for less than 48 hours of care.
