Holistic In Home Pet Care
Pet care experience
Many dogs need specialized, one-on-one care, and leaving them behind is always going to be a challenge. Omega, my dog, has severe separation anxiety and epilepsy. She’s on a special diet, doesn’t always get along with other dogs, and tends to pull on her leash. I know that I could never leave her in a kennel! In fact, typical boarding options present a lot of problems for dogs like her. I became a pet-sitter to ensure that pups like Omega get the best care when their owners have to go out of town, or work long hours each day. I’m a perceptive, loving caretaker. When I’m with your dog, she will get my undivided attention. We’ll take long walks and enjoy outdoor play. With each visit, I also make time to relax with the pup so that they can bask in warm, friendly companionship. I’ll pay close attention to any and all instructions you leave behind--including home care, like managing deliveries, mail, or watering plants. And I follow up with top-notch communication, including texts and photos, so you know exactly what’s going on--and never spend a moment worrying. I have one dog, Omega, and a cat named Ubik. Omega is a Border Collie/Chocolate Lab mix. She's been with me since she was born seven years ago. Her mother, Hershey, passed away last year at 14. Ubik is a 9-year-old and indoor, long-haired calico cat. He loves being groomed, and is the definition of a "scaredy-cat"! My free time is spent enjoying the neighborhood, traveling to local beaches, and relaxing indoors with a good book or TV show. My furry kiddos are part of my family, and they tag along as often as possible. Omega and I go for lots of car rides and play at the park daily; she loves to play fetch. Caring for the homes and pets in my community is deeply fulfilling. I’ve always been passionate about animals; I’m a vegan and have supported animal-centered causes throughout my adult life. Rover has given me a wonderful opportunity to pivot my career and turn toward work that improves my own health and happiness along with the pups I look after. About your potential dog sitter: I'm working on my doctorate degree and teach college part time online. My profession and education allow me the flexibility to work with animals through Rover! Additional services provided: •Pet Taxi: Pick up or drop off to vet, groomer or wherever you need them to go and can't take them. •Pet errands: Pick up of supplies, food, meds from vet or pet store. •Day sitting: Caring for sick kitties or doggies in your home while recovering from surgery or illness. Round the clock care, snuggles, medication administering during the day while your at work. *Please message me to discuss pricing details. A percentage of my acquired fees through Rover will go to the Guide Dogs of America and Pets of the Homeless charities!
Reviews
After having used Ashley successfully several times, she did not show up or contact us (after trying to confirm the house sitting engagement for about a week) for an out of town trip that we had to cancel the night before. Rover could not reach her and she has never contacted us to explain and/or apologize. Very disappointing...
Ashley was very dedicated to ensuring that my cats were well taken care. I returned to a clean and healthy environment. Would definitely use her again!
Ashley was great! I am very particular about who I leave my pup with. Ashley did a great job communicating the whole time and keeping me updated on my dog. Highly recommend.
Superb! Always can be gone without worrying wish Ashley looking after my two cats.

Information Ashley K. would like to know about your pet
Before the meet and greet, I'll ask detailed questions to ensure a successful meeting. Does your dog have separation anxiety? Does she like strangers? What about other dogs? Is she protective of the family or the home? All these questions can support a successful introduction. When I arrive at the client's house, I try not to make immediate eye contact with the dogs or move too quickly toward them. If the dog moves toward me, I stand still and allow the dog to sniff away. Once there is a body language of acceptance, then I lower my hand down toward the dog and allow them to make the first contact. I don't have a preference in dog breeds. I'm an equal-opportunity dog-sitter for all breeds!
A typical day
My daily schedule is extremely flexible! My priority is my client’s pets. I do drop-ins as well as overnight stays, and usually have steady drop-in clients each day that I will work around. Walks are based on your preferences; I’ll follow the paths the dogs are used to walking. I will work with you to meld my availability to your dog’s needs and usual routine as closely as possible.
