The peace of mind I would want
Pet care experience
I grew up with pets in the house, always, and I've had Alaskan Malamutes for the last 13 years. I truly love animals, big and small. All of my malamutes have been rescues, which presented unique challenges in retraining adult dogs, especially having two at a time as I did for some years. I currently have one malamute who is the absolute sweetest guy. He's great with dogs of all sizes and is equally good at reading language from dogs. Having large dogs increases the way I think about dog interactions and safety in general, and I am always alert and discerning.
Reviews
Myrt had a great vacation week with visits from Ashley! Thanks much!
Ashley was great. She looked after our cat for almost a week and we couldn't be happier with her service. Very communicative, responsible and friendly. Our cat was well looked after.
Ashley cared for our fur baby, Birdie, while we were away and we are so lucky to have found someone so great to watch our angel! Ashley was incredibly communicative and helpful through the whole process. Birdie loved being around her dog Smokey, too!
Great sitter! Ashley was communicative with us and attentive to our kitty's needs. We so appreciate her and recommend her to anyone nearby.

My place is small, tidy, and cozy. Dogs love it here. My entrance has two secure doors that no dog will ever sneak out of. Your dog will never be off-leash and unattended outside. If they require more running around time than multiple long walks, we will walk to the dog park during quiet hours. In general I don't take dogs to the dog park to interact with strangers because, we've all had those experiences, and I don't like to leave the safety of my dog, or yours, up to fate. You can rest assured that the safety of our dogs is truly my top priority. Your dog will be in my presence throughout the entire day. However, if I do need to pop out of the house, I am happy to accommodate any specific needs your dog might have when left alone, be it separating them in different rooms or crating them. Otherwise I find that dogs usually love each others' company when I'm gone.

Information Ashley J. would like to know about your pet
Dog interactions : Generally speaking, how does your dog react while on leash to other dogs we pass on the street? If other dog interactions should be avoided I am happy to accommodate but please let me know. Does your dog have any aggression issues? I have a lot of experience with dealing with dog aggression and don't view an aggressive dog as "bad", they are simply working with what they have. However, if your dog does show aggression - even from time to time - I need to know what circumstances trigger them, i.e. children, tall men, people in uniform, certain dog breeds, so I can set them up for success :) Triggers : Does your dog have any triggers or things in general that scare them that should be avoided? i.e. cars, vacuums, loud noises Medications : I am happy to administer your dogs medications whether it be oral, topical, or injections. I have cared for many senior dogs including my own who required daily injections. Please provide a list of medications and the time in which they should be administered. Allergies : Please let me know if your dog has any allergies or if there are specific ingredients in treats to be avoided. If you prefer your dog to have a specific type of treat please bring them. Lastly, your dog must get along with my Alaskan Malamute. He gets along with everyone and is incredibly gentle even with tiny dogs, but if your dog doesn't like big dogs, we won't be a good fit.
A typical day
After feeding the dogs in the morning I take them on a walk down to the riverfront do a big loop back home. The dogs will get plenty of attention and belly rubs all throughout the day. Then we'll take an afternoon walk around the neighborhood. Afterward I feed them again and go on another evening walk and come home and give them pets and scratches and we chill together for the rest of the evening.

Availability
I work from home and have a flexible schedule, so I am on call for whenever a trip outside is needed. I typically take my dog for three 30 minute walks a day(morning, afternoon, evening) with supplemental trips outside as needed. I am happy to accommodate specific feeding times or scheduled walks if your dog is accustomed to that.
