From puppies to frosted friends, I consider my family's dogs to be the sweetest and most challenging members of the family. The five pooches I grew up with certainly ran the gamete of conditions so I am familiar with quite a few: deafness, blindness, food addiction, epilepsy, anger management, motion sickness, GI problems, glaucoma, hemolytic disorder, as well as all the quirks of getting older. Non-dog families never understood the depth and level of care it takes to provide for our furry friends, but I gladly accept the additional responsibility. In addition to unconditional love and adoration, I give a good dog bath (always a bonus bath for me!), cuddles and stern admonishments (when necessary-- otherwise, I don't know about yours, but mine would have run amok.)
