Responsible, Reliable Dog Lover!

Pet care experience

I have owned and worked with dogs most of my life, and I take immense joy and satisfaction in caring for them. Dogs are amazing companions, and whether they are running around playing exuberantly, or contently curled up next to me, I always enjoy their company. As a dog owner myself, I like to know that my dogs are in good hands when I have to leave them, and I enjoy providing that reassurance to others. A little history: I’ve been a dog owner my whole life and a dog sitter for 25+ years. In addition, I have done a considerable amount of volunteering with the Los Angeles animal shelter - visiting their dogs and providing stimulation and love during their time there. I am certified in dog massage through the Los Angeles City College extension school. I use massage techniques on pups to help relieve stress and anxiety, as well as sore muscles and arthritic joints.

We had to last minute find a sitter for our two German Shepherds on Thanksgiving due to another sitter having to cancel. Even though Ashley had a number of other dogs that day, she was willing & able to watch them. Our dogs left tired & one had so much fun that she didn’t want to leave. Would book again & highly recommend!

Pi'erre had a great time while I was away - was provided updates throughout his stay and even was returned bathed and clean! Will definitely use Ashley again! Thanks Ashley!

Ashley did a good job with dog introductions so that our dogs were able to form good relationships with the other dogs she was watching. She seems to be very careful and strategic about this, which we greatly appreciate. She brought our big dogs to large safe spaces where they could run and play. She did a great job caring for Charlie and Nico. We would definitely use her again.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a 3 bedroom house on 3/4 of an acre with my husband, my toddler daughter and my 2 dogs: a 1 year old American white shepherd named Bran and a 15 year old lab/Aussie mix named Samy. They both get along with just about everyone and have a calm and gentle demeanor. Bran is amazingly intuitive in his interactions with other dogs and can temper his style of play to what they are comfortable with. Samy has some hip trouble which sometimes causes him pain so we do our best to make sure he has a comfy space away from the rambunctious younger dogs. I believe that communication is one of the most important aspects of any stay. For me, that begins before I meet you and your pup. I love to get as much information as possible about you and your pooch so I can start thinking about the best way to spend our time together. I am happy to accommodate any special care requests, so please feel free to ask! I really enjoy taking photos and videos of dogs. During your pets stay, I’ll be in regular communication with you via text with lots of video and picture messages so you know exactly how your best friend is doing while you’re away. I like to edit videos together into little montages and upload them on instagram and YouTube for their owners to view and share as well. I work from home, which enables me to give your pup the one on one attention they are accustomed to, even while you are away. I am available for pet sitting as well as doggie daycare both weekdays and weekends. I am very good at introducing multiple dogs to each other in a one on one, low stress manner that allows them to come together as a pack to play and interact peacefully together during doggy daycare and stays where I have multiple dogs. I’m well read and knowledgeable about dog’s body language and pack mentality and can identify potential problems before they occur.

Information Ashley B. would like to know about your pet

I like to do a brief interview with each pet owner and write up a little “bio” of your dogs needs, habits and motivators. That way I can continue providing them with something close to their normal routine in order to relieve stress and anxiety. Some things I like to learn ahead of time: Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet at my home before the stay? What’s your preferred method of communication? Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid? What’s the best way to spoil your pup?

A typical day

I love to stay active, so getting tons of exercise is a big part of any stay. I enjoy hiking, going the park and swimming (during the summer), and I take the dogs with me for all those activities! There’s nothing better than having a canine co-pilot alongside of you when you’re out on a trail, exploring some of the new sights and sounds. When we’re not exploring, I have a large backyard that is perfect for running around and playing in, and pups have access to it any time someone is home with them. I live in Richland Estates: a neigbborhood just across the highway from Austin Bergstrom International Airport. My neighborhood is quiet and residential, with low vehicle-traffic streets which are great for dog walks. I have a HUGE backyard which is fenced in so that the dogs can run and play off-leash. And that yard backs up to an undeveloped wooded area - which makes the dogs feel more like they’re out in the country. We have a comfy living room with lots of couches and dog beds available for social visits and for relaxing with the pups in the evening. The dogs have free reign of the house, and there is lots of room, so if a dog needs to get away and find a quiet space they can.

My schedule is currently very open, which makes me a great fit for pups that are used to having a human presence around them during the day. Most days I work from home, which allows me to interact with the dogs all day; my home office floor is strewn with dog beds, as they usually like to hang around with me while I'm working.
