Pet care experience
My first dog animal companion was Noel. I was young, just 9 when I got her, but even from that early age, I was the caretaker. I always found the ticks and got them off her, shoveled snow so she had a place to go the bathroom, gave her baths and haircuts (much to my parents chagrin! ;) ) and chased squirrels with her. She was the closest thing to a sister I ever had. Then as an adult, I got my own animal companion (named Sangha) from the shelter. Loved her! I am good at paying close attention to detail, so it was shortly after bringing her into my home that I noticed something was going on with her jaw. It was subtle, but I decided to get it checked out and learned she developed seizures. Our relationship shifted as her needs grew, but it was an honor to learn how to care for her unique needs (medicine, precautions, new diet, etc) while we were together. Now I do not currently have a dog, but I fostered for the SPCA numerous times over the last 2 1/2 years. That has helped me prepare to work on Rover because each dog had unique needs and I had to learn to care for each furry friend quickly because we only had a short period of time together. Thank you for entrusting your dear one with me. Currently, I am in gradschool for eco-social work.
Reviews
Asher did a great job sitting for our two dogs at our home for a couple of days while we were away. They arrived when they said they would, sent photos and status along the way, and took great care of our dogs and our home. When we returned, the towels were in the dryer and our house looked as clean as when we left it. Thanks so much for watching our beloved pups, Asher!
Georgina was great! We felt very comfortable leaving her in charge of our pets, as well as our house and mail, etc. We will definitely her again.
Very communicative throughout the weekend!
I had a positive experience the first time with Georgianna so left a great review however then discovered she wasn’t picking up after the dogs in the backyard. I mentioned this to her and she apologized saying she meant to before she left so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and booked her again for another stay thinking things would be better next time. They weren’t. I came home to dog poop again in the backyard. She never even went outside with them just open the door and let them outside to use the bathroom. Yes my backyard is fenced but if your caring for my dogs and being paid on top of it, you have to care for their well-being as well as their health by cleaning up after them. Now I’m wondering what else wasn’t done….(not to mentioned she moved my furniture around and then didn’t put things back as found….odd. Won’t be booking again. Twice was enough.

I work exclusively in others homes for a few reasons. First, because there are four dogs in my own home. Second, because from my time let-sitting I’ve found it’s particularly helpful to keep animals in their own home. I care for them with patience, keeping a schedule they’re used to, cuddles, and exercise to help keep any anxiety down.

Information Asher R. would like to know about your pet
It's always helpful to know your dogs regular schedule and patterns, what they are accustomed to like time they wake up, walks, foods, high and low energy times, etc. If any meds are needed, please let me know.
A typical day
I like to jog on trails like the Rivanna and Monticello and Ragged Mountain to name a few. Other times just games with the right toys for a pup can be a great way to stay engaged while at home.

Availability
I have a rather set schedule with classes and my other activities can float around that. This gives me flexibility with Dominga back during the day if needed and working partially remotely.
