The first thing that you should know is that I have always had a passion for caring for animals. From a young age my parents taught me the importance of caring for, respecting, and training our furry canine companions. I quickly realized that I had developed an interest in canine behavior and decided that I wanted to become a dog trainer. Apart from my dad I had no real mentor in the subject, so using his experience and any knowledge that I could find on being a trainer I started teaching the family Shepherd's simple obedience skills. All and all I wasn't able to teach overly coplex skills bit basic obedience and a few tricks we're easy enough for me to teach. Amongst other skills I taught the dog's to lay down, leave certain objects alone on command, stay, and even track track scents through the forest. Overall my love for canine behavior pushed me to want to become a certified full time trainer and I probably would be if not for my educational pursuit at WVU.
