Animals are my babies
Pet care experience
I’m a local dog groomer, part time. I have the start of my own little hobby farm, where I have dogs, cats, birds, arctic foxes, pigs, and fish (my horses aren’t home, yet)! I’ve fostered multiple orphaned animals as young as 24 hours old. I’ve cared for wild animal orphans until they could get to a rehab. I’ve cared for snakes, lizards, chinchillas, hedgehogs, ferrets, etc. I’ve bottle fed, given injections, and even have given IV fluids to my pets at vet direction. So, animal experience is putting it lightly! I house sit for friends and family frequently, and am looking to expand my services. My oldest pup is a super senior sheltie who needs a little extra love to stay comfortable. I also have a Pyrenees mix with severe storm anxiety that requires medication, so I’m familiar with what that entails. All of my dogs get a kibble diet paired with different supplements based on their individual needs, so I have no problem feeding more complicated diets as instructed. My foxes are primarily raw, and I’ve taken classes on pet nutrition. I’m currently training my red lab pup to be a cardiac alert service prospect, and have gone through maple creek training for obedience and socialization work. I’m constantly studying new techniques and ways to work with animals to keep them healthy and well rounded!
Reviews
This is our third time having Ashley watch our doggie. As in the past, she was great with updates and pictures. We feel very comfortable with her care towards him and with her being in our home. Will definitely be having her over to watch Trooper again!!
Ash was awesome with our two dogs! She is very attentive and caring, especially since we have one dog that can be pretty high energy. She is highly recommended 😊
Ash helped watch our dogs for 10 days and did a wonderful job with communication. We loved getting updates and pictures while we were out of town. We have an old 17 year old that needs extra care and patience and Ash was great with her. We will definitely book again.
This was our second time using Ashley for in house doggie sitting. Again she was on time, along with great pics and text messages. We had an unusual situation arise during her stay, which she handled perfectly. Troops seems to be getting more comfortable with her too, which is awesome!!

I’m comfortable walking or supervising your dog in a fenced yard, to potty. I can give medications and supplements as directed, to help keep your pet comfortable. If it’s a breed that requires brushing and maintaining while you’re gone? I’m comfortable doing it to prevent matting. Having so many different breeds dogs and cats of my own, under my belt, and having worked with so many others? I’m pretty comfortable with all pets. I’m working on receiving pet CPR classes, as well!
Information Ash M. would like to know about your pet
I like to know what the dog’s health and temperament are. If they need any special treatment: such as extra potty breaks, medications, stairs to climb up and down, extra brushing, etc. If the stay requires me to be with them 12+ hours during the day, I have to have enough notice to be taken off of my part time schedule should the days line up. But I can absolutely work with anything! If there are other animals that require care, such as birds or reptiles? There will be an extra $5 per small critter a day, added, but I don’t mind the scaly or fuzzy ones in the slightest!
A typical day
Days off: I start with a potty break first thing in the morning, and then bring every one in for their breakfast. They eat and get their morning water with an additive to help with dental health (regular water is available all times of the day). Then, follow with a dental treat and any medications they need. They get to lounge around while I clean a bit before they go potty again. After that? I tend to load them up for a walk. I, personally, like to walk on the Avoca trail or at the fort gratiot pond. I’ve been working on more one on one training at the moment, but I can walk four out of my five together comfortably, while my puppy is still training. It depends on the weather and comfort level of the dogs on how long we go. Afterwords? They typically nap it out, play with toys, and just relax for a while. Right before dinner? I like to refresh training skills or work with them one on one. They’re getting hungry and are more food motivated. We end on a good note, and then I feed dinner. We go out another 2-3 times before bed. Usually around midnight or so, to ensure that they are golden for the whole night.

I just dropped down to part time at my current job, and will be working remotely outside of then. So, my schedule is much more open than it used to be. It allows me to spend more time at home with pets, walking, feeding, and all other care. I only work Tuesdays, during the week. Every other Saturday. And Sundays. With notice? I can take them off to stay with your pet longer, as needed, as well!
