This was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a Rover sitter. We booked our two older dogs with Aryanna while my family and I went to visit my parents in NY. Her profile boasts she is looking to do Rover full time, lives with her boyfriends parents in Rochester, NH, and they have two dogs. All of which is not true. A day or so before my booking, Aryanna informs me that she isn’t sure she could take our dogs, as she hasn’t gotten approval from her landlord to have dogs in the apartment. I found this strange since she says that she lives with her boyfriends parents who already have two dogs, but she assured me that it wouldn’t be an issue. I explained that they are both older dogs, and that one of them does tend to bark if there are people ringing doorbells and the like. All of which seemed fine with her. On the day of my drop off, I contact her to double check the drop off time is ok. I’m told it is, however her address is different from the one listed (she now lives in Maine, not NH). When I arrive at the home, there are no other dogs present. However, there are several animals in cages (things like hamsters, etc). This is the morning of my trip, so there is no way I can back out or schedule someone else to take my two dogs (they have never been around other small animals before), however Aryanna and her profile boast that they have dealt with this before. Throughout the first two days of their stay, I received multiple messages and photos that the dogs are doing great, and that she is teaching them how to be nice to the other pets. This is great! I even get a message that she’s cleaned their ears as one was scratching them a lot, and even offered to buy us cleaning stuff provided we reimburse them (again, sounds great!). The morning of the third day, she mentioned how great the dogs are, and that her boyfriend even loved taking them on walks. Then, at around 8:30pm on that third day, I received a message from Aryanna that we needed to come get our dogs. She said that one of them was whining a lot, and that was causing the other to bark. She expressed that someone needed to come take them from her care ASAP. Not knowing what to do, I contacted Rover support, who eventually told me that I needed to find a different sitter, who would charge over double Aryanna’s rate, and that since Aryanna didn’t have transportation, we would need to arrange pick up with the new sitter. Rover also informed us that there was now a “safety issue” with our dogs, so we could not use someone who already had pets in their home. We were expected to do this while we were 4 states away. We weren’t able to find someone else to watch our dogs on such short notice, so we had to have my mother-in-law (who just had knee surgery, and already had a dog of her own), go pick them up and watch them for the remainder of our time away. Overall, I’d say this was a complete waste. Aryanna not only gave us false information about where she lived, and the types of other animals in the home, but also ended the stay early because she couldn’t handle a dog barking. I’d never recommend her for anyone’s pet.
