My name is Arthur and I just moved to DC from Boston so my fiance can attend graduate school. I'm currently home full-time while I look for for a new job in Washington. I'm a life-long dog lover and have been taking care of dogs since I was 11 years old. I recently lost my 15.5 year old mini-poodle named Tiny. Growing up, my family dogs were Mel and Tiny, both mini-poodles. I adopted both Mel and Tiny (who were 10 and 9 at the time) and brought them with me to Boston and was fortunate to have them both in my life until recently. I'm a big believer in the "who saved who?" mantra about adopting dogs. I considered Mel & Tiny part of my family and really miss taking care of dogs. In their old age, Mel & Tiny had a lot of senior special needs so I am very experienced with giving walks, medications, feeding on special diets, cleaning and laying indoor pads, incontinence, bathing, blow-drying, brushing, anxiety, alternating sleep schedules, and generally helping to take care of aging and sick dogs as well as younger dogs with special criteria. I know how hard it can be to find a good sitter who you can trust to take care of your dog's specific situation and special routine. I also experienced the challenge of moving rural/suburban dogs to an urban setting for which they were not well socialized, so if you have a shy dog or a dog who prefers not to mingle with other dogs, I'm very accommodating for that as well. I am available for walks, drop-ins, and extended-hour dog-sitting. I'd bring a note book during our meet-and-greet to write everything down about your dog and his/her routine. I always gave very detailed instructions myself and enjoyed receiving pictures from our sitters as well. I know its important to make sure that its the right fit between a sitter and a dog in order to give you peace of mind while you are away from home.
