Dogs are better than humans!

Pet care experience

Dogs cured me from burn out a while back and ever since then I cannot live without them. So due to a job situation that hasn't allowed us to have a dog yet, on my free days I either sit a dog or borrow a friend's. Now I need to take forest walks with dogs 2-3 times a week. I have taken care of different adorable dogs: Amstaff mix, American Bully, Australian shepherd, Eurasier, American Akita/German Shepherd, Cane Corso Italian Mastiff, Poodle, Labrador, Samoyed, Shiba, Golden Retriever, Husky, Corgi. Some of them are young, the youngest was 3 months golden retriever puppy with a lot energy. Some are also big dogs 30kg+, the Cane Corso is 50kg+. I have take them for walks and also have them in my house days and weeks. I love them! I genuinely love hanging out with them. I host playdates within the dogs circle that I take care. I even hosted a xmas doggy party last winter. We (my husband and another housemate (inneboende)) live in a 80 square meter 2 bedroom apartment on the first floor near some fenced area and greenery (Gränby 4H). We have a communal backyard (non-fenced) to play. We have harness, flexi leash, long leash, toys, water bowl, food bowl, licky mat, kong, cooling mat, towel, shampoo, puzzle. I prefer medium to big dogs that can be left alone 1-4 hours. No details about your dog is too little. Let me know what your dog likes and dislikes, preferred treat and so on. What to do and what not to do is the most importance.

Arlita is the best dog sitter I could ask for. My ridgeback Rune is 10 months old, 37kg and has a lot of energy. She is safe and a fun friend for him at all times. She arranged play dates so that he could burn off some of the energy and make new dog friends. I appreciate the clear communication and big interest she has in the dog as an individual. I will always ask Arlita first if Rune needs a sitter. Thank you!

Kind and playful sitter. Arlita kept me informed with what Sisa was doing whether she was behaving (or otherwise). I respect the honesty. Also, my dog has a lot energy and it was great to have her calm and resting the whole 4 hour journey home. Thank you

Arlita is an amazing dogsitter!! She's super sweet, thoughtful, asked questions about Astrid and sent us many updates throughout the evening. I highly recommend her and will definitely book her again ?

I always try to enforce the trainings that the owner is doing and what they like at home and try to replicate that with me. Before a pet is left with me, I always offer a free walk meet up to make sure the dog is more comfortable and safe. When it's a puppy I usually meet them even more than Any food, any interaction is consulted prior. i.e. Is it ok for them to be on the sofa? I am autistic so communication needs to be explicit and clear instruction. Instead of: he's not really good off leash and not good on recall. Do this: Don't have him at leash except in fenced area. To avoid ambiguity I have a form to fill out for all dog owner. It's a more detailed version of their pets.

Information Arlita R. would like to know about your pet

Can they be left alone for a couple of hours? What language do they understand? How are they with other dogs, humans, cats, birds? For example if they don't like certain dog breed or certain dog size. What kind of basic command that they know? What kind of training that they are currently on? So that I don't undermine the training.

A typical day

I believe that walking a dog is for their benefit. I don't rush them and they can sniff to their heart content. I usually always add play into it too: fetch or tug of war. Some training too and playdate. I also do scavenge hunt where I hide treats in a room and let the dogs find it.

I'm currently working part-time at a store. I live near Gränby dog park so I take them there as well as Gränby farm areas (Gränby 4H) (djurhage). I usually always have one long walk in the day. Take long morning walk to the djurhage around 8-9 am for 1-2 hours. Then smaller 30-45 minutes walk around after lunch and dinner. I sometimes takes a dog when I work 10-17 and my husband works 16-20. In this case I take it's morning and dinner walk and my husband takes the afternoon walk. If I don't work that day, small morning walk and then around 11 am we go to the forest with a bus (winter) or bike (summer). Where we usually arrived home at 15.00. And then we don't take another walk until after dinner (after 20.00). It is quite often that I host more than one dog. These playdates always occurs where the dogs already know each other prior.
