My family adopted a beautiful black lab who was with us for about eight years, who taught me how to really love and care for a dog. He was definitely a handful at times (read: constantly wanting to chase and bark at squirrels, cats, skateboards, birds... you name it), and since he was a large dog, I learned how to handle and keep control of him even in tricky situations. I also volunteered for several years at my local animal shelter, where I worked walked and socialized up to “red dot” dogs (they were rated from green, yellow, orange, to red in order of how difficult they were to handle) I love to just takes walks in the summer, and I know the only thing that would make them better is having a dog with me. I recently finished my summer fellowship so my availability is super open — I may be taking on a part time job soon, but I know that I can definitely make time in my schedule for dogs!
