I have lived in DC for a couple of years now, and in the last several months I have become a foster for City Dogs Rescue. I am currently on my 4th foster and love helping them! I have had dogs my entire life, especially larger breeds, and love them all. With fostering, I have gained special experience in special needs dogs and working with those who have trust issues. I have a few friends in town that I have also spent several weekends pet sitting for. Prior to living in DC, I use to pet sit regularly for friends and neighbors since I was 15. I do have a full time job with a shift schedule. Some mornings I am available, some evenings and some mid days I am available. It really varies from day to day. I have a one year old male Akita. He loves to play and generally gets along well with everyone. He loves other dogs, but it is subject to the individual dog. He gets along better with larger dogs simply because of his size. Before accepting any in house pet guests, it would be very important to me that they meet on his territory and get along. Why I love dog sitting I have loved dogs and animals since day 1. When I was born, my parents owns two Samoyeds that we had until I was 5. They were basically my baby sitters. After that I had 2 Huskies that lived to be 13 and 14. They both passed away within a year of each other and since then I have been sitting for friends in DC and fostering. I have dog sat a sweet cocker spaniel, lab, and a few cats. I have fostered a senior bernese mountain dog mix, a puppy mix, an older blind boxer, and an underweight Redbone coonhound (who loves my cooking). My experience administering medication I am comfortable with oral medications. Thanks!
