During the coronavirus lockdown when I lived in my home town, I adopted a rescue. I raised him myself while balancing several classes and a rigorous extracurricular schedule. I learned how dogs respond to consistency, and I’m determined to bring that anywhere I go. I can put my personal feelings and life aside because being with any animal immediately lightens my mood. Raising a puppy by myself taught me important skills about patience and how to organize my priorities. I also worked with a trainer during this period, where my dog excelled through behavioral training. Eventually I was able to adapt all of the skills taught to me by a professional and bring them to my neighbors and family members’ homes when I would help pet sit.
