Caring & Reliable Pet/House Sitter

Pet care experience

I grew up on a farm in Ohio with a lot of open land, a lot of animals, and a lot of responsibilities. I felt very connected to my pets and our animals from a young age and have enjoyed the many years spent caring for them. I later spent a lot of time volunteering at shelters and with advocacy programs, and eventually became a foster mom for dogs and cats for several years. I deeply value the companionship and joy that animals bring into our lives, and realize we have just as much to gain from them as they do from us. I understand the bond that you have with your pet, and I while I have spent time caring for many animals over the years, I recognize the genuine uniqueness that each one possesses. I take the responsibility of caring for your pet on your behalf very seriously - and will do all I can to ensure they are comfortable, cared for, and happy while you are away. I know leaving your little guy is never easy, even if it's just a short time. But at least you can head out with the sense of security and peace of mind in knowing that everything under your roof is in the hands of a friendly, loyal caretaker. Please feel free to message me with any questions you may have! -Annie

Annie was great with our young pup during our first trip away. Leading up to the trip she shared a thoughtful questionnaire which helped put our minds at ease and set the stay up for success. Updates included a lot of detail about not just activities but behaviors observed as well as things she was doing to make our puppy most comfortable. The house was clean/tidy when we returned and Annie had even washed the sheets and remade the bed. It was clear our boy had a great time with Annie and was sad when she left.

Annie is great with our needy dogs. They were sad to see her leave. She always leaves our house clean and organized as well. I highly recommend her services.

Annie was AMAZING. Our dog takes a while to warm up to new people and Annie was great at being patient and comfortable enough to let our dog warm up to her and trust her. Lacy had such a great time and the check-in pictures we received of their adventures together made my whole trip! Would highly recommend her to watch your animals too!

Annie stayed with our 2 senior dachshunds over Labor Day weekend and they were in great hands. She sent us updates with photos. The house was clean when we returned and the dogs were very relaxed and sad when she left. She even left us some flowers in a vase. Very sweet. We will definitely use her services again.

Various aspects of care varies based on different situations and needs of pets, house and owner. The type of care I provide is attentive, connected, hands-on (lots of pets, cuddles), open-hearted, intuitive (picking up cues, sensing and predicting needs), consistent, stable and reliable.

Information Annie S. would like to know about your pet

The life of each pet, and the pets themselves, all very greatly. As a dog parent, I'm sure you know your pet like the back of your hand, so anything and everything you tell me about their routines, preferences, and behavior will help me to ensure they are as comfortable and happy as possible while you are away. I also have an easy to fill-out form that includes a lot of this information. Routines: I would like to know as much as I can about your pet's routine and what they're used to their day looking like. Do they follow a fairly consistent schedule? At what times, how much, and how frequently do they eat, take their walks, and potty breaks? Are there places you and your pet like to walk or you prefer them to go? Any places you want to avoid? Behavior & Tendencies: What commands does your dog know, and how do you deal with good and bad behavior? How are they generally with other animals/loud noises/or other people? Do they have any special ways of expressing their needs to you? Do they have tendencies to jump, play, or nip when they get excited? Preferences: What are his/her favorite toys, indoor/outdoor games, favorite places to walk/play/potty? What is their go-to/dog-parent approved place to sleep? Precautionary Measures: Is there anything in the house I need to be aware of? Doors with unusual locks, screens that stick, or places your pet likes to try and sneak out of? [These are questions that pertain to the care of your dog. You and I will go over the criteria more specific to your home-care expectations such as daily responsibilities, security, cleaning, etc. at a later time.] And finally, just to be completely prepared, be sure to leave me a list of contacts and in-case-of-emergency info you want me to have including info for primary/secondary contacts, preferred local veterinarian and emergency clinic.

A typical day

I am a self-employed professional freelancer, nanny, pet and house sitter with a good amount of flexibility in creating my schedule during the week as well as the ability to work remotely. I currently live in Lexington, and while I do spend some time at a computer, I also live a very active lifestyle. I like being outdoors as much as possible when I'm not working - hiking, biking, and doing volunteer dog-walking.
