Pet care experience
I truly love doing this and I believe that comes through, both for the pets I care for and their owners. I've been doing it full time for several years now and it's been one of the most enjoyable times of my life. I have a great deal of experience taking care of dogs - everything from puppies to rescues to seniors with medical needs. I love all breeds but grew up with hounds (beagle, pointer, foxhound) and, as an adult, have owned a golden retriever, lab, border collie, coonhound and a bloodhound. They were all medium-sized dogs but I'm comfortable with, and have sat for, any and all kinds. I've also worked with American Lab Rescue doing interviews and home inspections for them. I felt it was important to do as two of my dogs were rescues (one badly abused, sadly) but they just enriched my life in innumerable ways. I'm an avid hiker / walker and (sometimes) runner and will happily take any interested pooches along. It's actually the perfect break while I'm writing, allowing me to let my thoughts settle while they stay happy and healthy. I love cats as well! It wasn't until I was an adult and lived with one that I realized how truly amazing they are. Since then, I've taken care of many, both long-haired and short. The most I've watched at one time is 8 (!) but they were all sweet and it wasn't quite as chaotic as that might sound. I always send daily videos or pictures of what I'm doing with the furry one(s) while you're away. I know when I was away from my own, it was just reassuring to see them happy and settled and helped me enjoy my trips that much more. I'm neat, clean, responsible and respectful and will give your pet time and attention, caring for them as if they were my own. I have also owned a home in the past and understand and respect what it means to allow someone into yours.
Reviews
Annie has been Lily’s pet sitter for the third time so far and will continue to be so. Annie is extremely good with Lily, an energetic golden retriever puppy. She keeps the house extremely clean when we are out overnight and Lily always loves to have Annie around. Could not have hoped for a better sitter for our Lily
Annie did a wonderful job for her first visit with my two shelties. My girl is very shy/hesitant and she felt so comfortable with Annie after only meeting her once prior at our meet/greet which really puts me at ease! This visit was a dinner visit and Annie followed all instructions perfectly - not hesitating to ask questions which I really appreciated b/c they are on a special diet. They got plenty of outside time in the backyard to potty and burn off energy too. We are looking forward to Annie’s next visit!
Annie is terrific! Our dog loved her and was obviously very well cared for. The house was well cared for as well during her sitting. We will definitely have Annie sit for us again.
This was my first time using Rover, and I'm so happy I found Annie to stay at my house with our French Bulldog while we went on vacation! She was great at communicating with me both before and during our trip. She gave me daily updates with photos/videos and responded very quickly whenever I checked in. Our house was extremely clean when we came home. I would definitely use Annie again in the future!

I believe it's best to keep a dog or cat to the schedule and routine they are used to and with which they are comfortable. If you walk your dog six times a day, I'll do the same. If you feed your cat in the middle of the night, that's what I'll do. If they sleep right on top of you, burrowing into your stomach, I'm happy to accommodate! Whether it's eating people food (or not), socializing with other dogs (or not), grooming, cuddling, dog parks and play dates - I follow your lead.
Information Annie R. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet doesn't get along well with others, is alpha-oriented, or has any kind of history of abuse - it's easy enough to cross the street or avoid stressful situations. I like to know their comfort with socializing, if they like to play games or chase balls, if they eat people food or have any special dietary habits or medications. I always check with the owner before taking a pup on an outing and will only do what's comfortable for everyone involved.
A typical day
I always start the day with cuddles and belly rubs. After breakfast, it's off on a long walk or hike, or to the dog park, if they prefer. This allows them mental and physical stimulation, maybe even some socializing, and I believe a tired pup is a happy pup! The rest of the day is naps and keeping me company as I work, taking breaks for treats, games and potty breaks. An evening walk before dinner can be nice as well, depending on their level of physical activity.

Availability
I'm a writer so my schedule is incredibly flexible. It's just me and my laptop! So, I will be in your home, with your loved one, all day with no long absences. This allows them to stay in comfortable and familiar surroundings while providing me with a cute and cuddly co-worker.
