Caring Nurse Practitioner that WFH!
Pet care experience
Hi, I'm Anne, and I am an absolute animal lover, as well as a professional healthcare provider for humans aged 0-100! I have been an animal lover and dog and or cat owner for as long as I can remember, i.e., "Fred the Beagle" was an instant companion as soon as I came home from the hospital after being born. I grew up with two dogs & multiple cats, each of them positively impacted my life in a significant way. However, it was the first dog I owned by myself as an adult (Penny the Min Pin), who truly transformed me. Penny literally became my best friend and constant companion in a matter of weeks and remained so for over 15 yrs until she crossed the rainbow bridge. It was through this intense bond with Penny, that I really became more conscious and self-aware of the profound healing power of the canine/human bond, and the many positive health effects such a bond brings! I also believe this connection can be formed with any animal who finds the right human (and vice versa)! As a RN/FNP who now works from home, I strongly believe in the equal importance of all aspects of health and how our social, environmental, spiritual & physical well-being is all connected. It would be my honor to help maintain and increase the therapeutic bond between you and your dog. By age five, I started taking on minor responsibilities for our family pets, gradually taking on more duties incrementally as I got older. By high school, I began to housesit for other cat and dog lovers as well as perform other caretaking tasks such as dog walking, drop-by visits for cats and dogs, etc. Excluding my childhood, I now have 30+ years of caring for others' canine or feline companions. I also have been a medical foster parent for local animal shelters for 15+ yrs. Both experiences have entailed caring for cats and dogs of all ages, sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions. My current fur baby "Bones" is actually a "failed" Hurricane Harvey foster. She overcame, against all odds, Parvo (shout out to APA:), blood transfusions, distemper, a heartworm infection, and anaphylactic shock during my first year caring for her. Bones is now close to 18 lbs, 5.8 yrs, spayed, super healthy, and very possibly spoiled rotten. She is up-to-date on all her vaccinations (as I am, by the way:) and is a fun-loving pup who LOVES the companionship of other dogs (big and small, old and young)! Your loved one will have the supervision of a caring, engaging & knowledgeable human (that's me!). They will also have the companionship of Bones and the much-needed canine camaraderie that most dogs need and enjoy to thrive fully, not to mention the energy expenditure that comes from such socialization! After a year of intense medical care, Bones was excited to be finally "out and about" but got overwhelmed/overtired when I signed her up for packages at big doggy daycare businesses. In my initial interactions with Rover.com, I was the protective fur mama looking for the best sitter/fit for Bones! Eventually, I decided to offer my own services because I saw how other animal caregivers enjoyed their role & I was reminded of how much I loved taking care of others' pets during high school/college. It was based on those formative memories, combined with my personal experience of trying to find a place my dog could have canine companionship, but without the cost of personal attention, that I decided to offer my space as a safe, enriched, fun environment for other fur parents who desire the same thing I did. Based on this model, I limit the number of dogs I care for per day to no more than 2- 3 (based on size/energy level), including my own dog Bones. That way, I can assure you your fur baby will get the attention they deserve plus the added benefit of a doggy playmate! I am confident I can meet any specific care needs you request, and If I am unable I will be sure to let you know immediately. With all that said, I can't wait to meet you and your fur baby!

Anne was just incredible! This was our first time using Rover, and Anne far exceeded any expectations we had. She was loving and gentle toward our standard poodle, and even helped out with our chickens. She sent fun updates and pictures, and took Ozzy (our dog) on walks daily. Anne even left the house cleaner than she found it! On top of all that, she is just a kind soul who is lovely to talk with. Couldn’t recommend her enough.
Anne is quite literally an angel. I have a rather “difficult” cat and, unlike most, Anne was patient and respectful of my cat’s boundaries and took the time to make her comfortable with her presence. I’ve *never* seen my cat become fond of a stranger so quickly, and I appreciate the level of care she provided more than the average person. She is also quite funny, enjoyable to correspond with, and goes above and beyond most rovers. For example, my automatic litter box was not working and without me asking, she scooped all of the dirty litter and got it back up and running. This was my first time using Rover in Austin, and I am so glad I chose Anne. She has made a repeat customer out of me, and I truly CANNOT recommend her enough.
Anne is amazing. She truly loves dogs and our puppy was well taken care of. We will definitely be using Anne in the future.
Anne is amazing! She was so good with our puppy and super communicative with us. We would 1000% hire Anne again.

My husband & I are in transition as we look for a home to purchase and, therefore, live in a smaller/older apartment in Clarksville for at least the next six months. Due to this circumstance, I am currently only offering daycare and boarding to smaller fur babies to ensure your loved one has enough room to hunt, gather, chase, munch on toys, eat in a separate space, & comfortably lounge, etc. With that said, if your dog is of more immense stature but has a more chill/ low energy vibe, exceptions might be able to be accommodated. We have a small unfenced "backyard"/alley that I utilize for leashed potty breaks, squirrel sightings, the occasional sunbathing session (if weather appropriate), and both human and canine stretching sessions every 2-4 hours. The West Austin Neighborhood Park and the attached dog park are a mere two blocks away, the Shoal Creek park/trail is within walking distance, and the neighborhood abounds with safe sidewalks. Daytime or overnights stays include at least one long walk, enrichment time such as brain games/puzzles and or ball time), MAJOR cuddle time, canine companionship & socialization, and even a doggy ice cream treat (if their diet allows). You will rest easy knowing your fur baby is being closely monitored and cared for by an experienced and knowledgable human(s)- my husband also works from home. However, I will be responsible for all your companion's needs (although I can't promise that my husband will be able to stay away from cuddle or ball time:). I will also update you with photos no matter if it's a drop-by visit, walk, housesitting, or time with us at home. Although I am not a certified vet-tech, as mentioned above, I have been a RN for 13 yrs and a Nurse Practitioner for seven yrs. Human and animal medicine can be very different, but many principles remain the same! I have also learned how to care for medical problems by fostering dogs and kittens with various medical conditions & through caring for animals of all ages, including my own. As a bonus, I also have a best friend and a cousin who are vets on speed-dial:)

To ensure that all involved are healthy and happy, please try to book at least one singular block of time of day care before booking multiple days/boarding (half-day rates can be arranged). Exceptions allowed, but will need to be discussed beforehand.
A typical day
I enjoy hosting both people and pets, and my southern hospitality will ensure your loved one is comfortable and cared for, as I will go out of my way to make sure that occurs. If I can't meet this need or feel like your loved one could benefit from a different environment/care situation, I will always be honest and let you know, and please vice-versa! My goal is to make this a fun, healthy, and happy experience for everyone involved!

Availability
I try to be very open regarding schedule/calendar availability and accepting same-day requests as I am very aware life doesn't always stick to schedules. If I accept your request, I will always honor our agreement (baring any life-threatening situations/catastrophic disasters, etc. #nursehumor). There might be isolated days that my work responsibilities make it hard for me to give your darling the care he/she/they deserve even if my calendar says I'm available. Unfortunately, I can't always predict when these occasional days will occur (#healthcare, right?). Hence, I ask you not to be upset or angry if I cannot accommodate your request, even though my Rover calendar says I'm available. AGAIN, IF I ACCEPT YOUR REQUEST, IT WILL BE HONORED WITH DELIGHT!
