Pet care experience
I grew up in Belgium with cats, chickens, and goats as well as with horses and four dogs, and currently live with two wonderful dogs - an older mellow lab who has helped me raise my two kids who are now teenagers and a busy GSP. My pointer and I are avid nature lovers and hikers and can walk for up to ten miles at a time together. I took basic obedience classes with both of my dogs when they were younger and learned even more while working with a private trainer and my pointer. Even though I am not a dog trainer at all, I will definitely encourage basic good habits when taking care of your dog. I took a class in dog management when I volunteered for a non profit that trains service dogs and led group hikes for people and their dogs in Marin County for many years. Years ago, despite being busy as a mother and part-time teacher/advisor (I have degrees in pedagogy, languages, and literature and have worked in elementary through collegiate education for twenty-five years), I decided to attend a dog CPR class as well as pack management classes and became certified as a dog walker and sitter with dog*tec. I have worked on Rover as well as for myself over the years (you can find my older site Chez Anne Pet Sitting online). I have my own insurance and am a caring, curious, reliable, thoughtful, and trustworthy person. In your absence, I will work hard to make your dogs as happy as they can be, by combining some of the things that canines tend to love the most: comfort, positive attention and guidance, fun outings, and a stable pack/another family to become a part of. If you want to avoid impersonal and overcrowded kennels and would like your dog to feel stimulated while also truly cared for while you are away, you have found the right place! Though my pointer is very active and I am happy to care for energetic dogs, I also very much enjoy taking care of older and special needs dogs. I am a very attentive and caring sitter, and every dog (or cat) will be cherished while in my care!
Reviews
It’s so hard to find someone reliable and trustworthy & I’m very lucky my boys found Anne! She took extra great care of them (each with special needs), took them on fun adventures & provide daily updates 💜 highly recommend! Thanks so much Anne - the boys will be back!
Anne was so wonderful and we'll definitely have Bodie stay with her again! She was communicative and shared great pictures of the fun they were having. It was clear Bodie fit in well and had a great time!
Ann did a great job of taking care of our dog. She sent lots of pictures and communications. We will definitely have her take care of Nala again
Daisy met Anne for the first time today, and had a great walk around the neighborhood. She came back happy and ready for a good nap.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety is a priority when taking care of pets. I have two small fenced yards where the dogs and I can play together, or the dogs can rest in the sun while I garden and supervise them. I will walk your dog(s) on leash for safety reasons, unless your dog has great recall, and you let me know that it is OK with you for me to have them run off leash.

Information Anne B. would like to know about your pet
How does your dog behave around people? How comfortable is your dog with other dogs? How trained is your dog? Does your dog have any quirks like separation anxiety or resource guarding habits? How much exercise does your dog need?
A typical day
I live close to the Fairfax area where there are numerous amazing nature preserves as well as to the Terra Linda Sleepy Hollow Ridge and take dogs on neighborhood outings as well, to Hawthorne Canyon or Sorich Park in San Anselmo and to Fairfax. Staying home to cuddle with dogs and having great conversations with them is great too. Older or special needs dogs are welcome in our home. Dogs are encouraged to pee every two to four hours at my house and can sleep on one of our many dog beds or on my old couch if they so desire.

Availability
I can only board dog(s) who are house trained, are social with people and dogs and who don't bark or get destructive when left alone. I will be entirely devoted to your pets during weekends and all breaks I have in education but can also take care of pets during the school year if they are used to staying on their own for a few hours a day (I work part-time and am never gone for long - no more than the average pet sitter who walks other dogs and visit other homes during the day). The pets in my care will get plenty of exercise and attention any day.
