There have been five rescue dogs in my household and I've cared for dogs of family and friends, too. I am a serious dog-lover, but after our last elderly dog-companion died, my husband and I decided to put our energy into helping others with their dogs, rather than bring more into our family. Plenty of dogs need a little more attention and exercise, and we want to support their humans in going to the places they long to go. As travelers ourselves, when we had three elderly dogs (one with serious separation anxiety) we actually lived in a van for a year-and-a-half so we could keep those heat-seeking Italian Greyhounds and whippet in comfortable climates, and close by. They loved the year we lived in Mexico, especially. We've also loved and cared for lab mixes, pit mixes, poodles, border collies, chihuahuas, and any temperament or size of dog.
