I have pet sat for many dogs and cats over the years, and truly enjoy getting to know animals. It’s the best when you watch them warm up to you before your very eyes, you see their anxiety lessen and muscles loosen, as they finally give in to being comfortable and happy again. I know what it’s like to have a dog that’s anxious and scared a lot of the time, so I really focus on finding out what each specific dog needs to feel comfort and safety, because each dog is so very different. Along with pet sitting, I had my own dog for 15 years. My miniature schnauzer, Luke, was the love of my life, my sweet, loving, affectionate, silly little man. He had a retinal degenerative disease that caused him to go blind halfway through his life, but he adjusted so well, definitely a much quicker and easier adjustment than I experienced! He had many issues as he got older, and I vowed to always take as good of care of him as he did of me over the many years he had been my closest buddy, my best friend. He held on long enough for me to have my son, and then I had to make the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make. He was suffering so much, and so I decided to put him down a little less than two weeks after having my baby boy. It was the worst day of my life, but I knew that I was honoring him by making the best decision for him, even though it completely broke my heart. I wear a beautiful necklace containing some of his ashes close to my heart every day, and not a day goes by, even after two years, that I don’t miss my sweet boy. We are waiting until my son is a little older to get another dog, as for one, I’m still not ready and I want my son to be a little older before having a dog full-time. In the meantime, I have so much doggie love to give, and I would love to shower it on the furry love of your life during those times that you aren’t able to. I will always treat every dog as I they were my own, and love them and care for them just like I did for my Luke.
