I don't normally leave reviews but I thought it important to my fellow pet lovers. My husband and I were in a pinch being new to the area and had a pre-booked trip for the holidays. We needed service for 11 days and 10 nights. Having the opportunity to have a sitter available at the last minute was a benefit to us, but there were several things we experienced that made for a below average experience. To be fair, Anna did leave our home very clean with no damage, and the home appeared to be locked up and safe each day/night. Anna also was very responsive with returning texts. Unfortunately, she did not meet our expectations for a proper level of attention and care for our two dogs. The impression was she would be there most of the time popping in and out for errands since she was not working that week. Our first day we left for the airport Anna did not go to the house to visit the dogs and check in for 11 hours. After texting she indicated she had a personal emergency yet that appeared to have happened later in the day which did not justify having not gone for the first 7 hours of pet sitting. I asked for daily pictures and I received only 2 for the duration. I also indicated it was their birthdays on 12/31 and there were no texts or pics for that special day. After a few days of Anna coming and going, she once again was gone for 7 hours on one particular day and said she had an appt for her family member and went to get an oil change. I felt that Anna was returning to the home to see my dogs only upon my prompting with questions on her whereabouts. I expressed to her I was very concerned about her absence and a lack of routine for the dogs and she responded that she would do better. I asked that the plants be watered but found them bone dry. I asked the dogs be walked, she walked them only once in the 10 days. She had also asked to have visitors hang at the house with her, which I approved and appreciated that she asked, however, one visitor was a very young child and I had not received a request for her (we have a pool). After communicating my concern about this to Anna, she apologized and did request my approval for subsequent visits. My experience with other pet sitters is that they are typically very gregarious, warm, friendly and playful with dogs. I had some concerns up front because I found Anna to be a bit guarded and distant, and in fact, in our first meeting, noticed she barely reached down to pet the dogs or give attention. I just assumed she may be nervous but after the entirety of this sitting experience, I am questioning the level of affection and attention she had given my dogs. Overall, I would not recommend Anna unless she is able to make some changes in fulfilling what she promises, shows her clients their dogs are her first priority, and is more communicative and conscientious to her clients needs.
