I have owned dogs for 20+ years. I have experience raising puppies, caring for senior dogs, and potty-training. I currently have four dogs, three of which are rescued. My dream job is to own a dog rescue business and provide a temporary haven for dogs in need while waiting for a loving home. I semi-accomplish this by having four of my own and dog-sitting others. My dogs are friendly with other dogs. I have a methodical way I approach introductions by introducing the new dog to first my children, one at a time, and then each dog individually. I keep my dog on a leash until I feel comfortable enough to take the leash off. I give the dogs some time to get to know each other and if all is well, I put my dog in the backyard while the next dog comes out for introductions. I have the ability to separate them if needed. Each dog eats in their own space to avoid conflicts. At night, I like to crate visiting pups and then in the morning they are let out around 6:30 a.m. to go potty, followed by breakfast, followed by outside time in the cool morning. I bring the dogs in before it gets hot in the afternoon and water is available throughout the day. I work from home so I am home 24/7 to take care of the pups. I can also bathe animals, clean their ears, and trim their undercoat. I'm not a professional groomer by any means, but I do have the tools and skill to give a basic trim for medium-heavy coats.
