TLC for Your Precious Pets and Home
Pet care experience
I am a semi-retired professional woman, responsible, mature, and kind. I moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago from Maine, where I had male springer spaniels for almost 30 years. I miss those wild boys! Later I provided pet sitting services through Dog Vacay, which became part of Rover. More recently I've provided house and pet sitting in Pgh and New England--cats and dogs. I love animals and miss them. As I live in an apartment, I no longer have any and would love to care for yours. I'm a listener and will work with you to understand your pet and the care you want. I've worked with big guys, little guys, old and young. I often sit older dogs and cats and am comfortable with administering medications, special diets, etc. Currently, I provide dog walking/drop-in services only within a mile or less of Edgewood. I provide house-sitting services in the Regent Square area, Squirrel Hill, and Point Breeze only. Unfortunately, I cannot provide boarding services as I am in an apartment, although I can have animals with me for brief periods. Please note that I cannot provide services for pit bulls or pit bull mixes. Re home care, I owned my own home in Central Maine for many years. I heated with wood, dealt with tons of snow, raked the roof to prevent ice dams, had a tree fall on the house, etc. You will find me responsible and resourceful, and I will take good care of your home and precious loved ones.
Reviews
Ann was marvelous! She took wonderful care of our dogs. And left the house in perfect order. Excellent communication with daily updates and pics.
Ann has been walking Hank for the past month. She has been so dependable and conscientious. Hank is sweet but he can be obstinate about walking. Ann has gone above and beyond to work with him and help him trust her. Hank loves her!
Ann did a great job watching Bailey!
I can’t say enough about how great Ann has been walking Hank. She previously house sat for me so Hank already knew her and loved her. But this time I needed someone urgently to walk him because I had surgery and my usual dog walker wasn’t able to walk him. I reached out to Ann through Rover and she accepted and has been wonderful. Hank has been a little freaked out because his life is very different. Ann has been so patient and sweet with him. She is extremely reliable. I recommend Ann .

My focus is on the pet and their parent/s. I usually learn about their needs in detail at a meet or greet or other contact. I want to learn about their routine and needs and what is familiar because it can be stressful to have a stranger come in. I love to commune with animals and play with them. I walk a lot, and I seek advice from the owner re walking routes, etc. Safety: In addition to Rover's background check, I can give you documentation of an FBI federal criminal history background check that I passed not long ago, which was a requirement for volunteer work. I also have excellent local references that I can provide you.
Information Ann C. would like to know about your pet
Their general personality and health status, how he/she is with strangers and other dogs and cats, general temperament, any separation anxiety issues, dog friends, places he/she likes to go, what calms him/her, how much exercise required, do's and don'ts concerning feeding and treats (as applicable). I don't really have breed preferences. If he/she was a larger dog and also very energetic, I'd want to talk with you to ensure a good experience for both of us.
A typical day
Streets, parks, dog parks. I like to play games with dogs, laugh with them, toss balls. I tailor activities to the dog, so I'd ask you what your pet likes. I'd prefer a meet and greet if possible.

Availability
I work part-time as an editor from my Edgewood home and I am usually here during the day. I can walk dogs in the morning and later in the day. I am hoping to work with a few clients/pets on a set schedule, but I am also flexible as needed.
