Pet care experience
I've had cats and dogs all my life, but my level of care I was able to provide definitely became more advanced when I became a medical laboratory scientist. After being in the medical field for nearly 10 years, I felt comfortable giving subcutaneous fluids to one of my cats every day for the last two years of her life. Having had 5 pets pass away from old age, while I was the primary care giver, has taught me a lot about caring for elderly pets. I am familiar with checking for normal stool, dehydration, jaundice, and anemia and have administered pills as well as given subcutaneous fluids daily. It's always hard to lose a pet, but I'm grateful that I have the knowledge and experience to help my future pets.
Reviews
Punctual, professional, and caring and affectionate with our cats. She is always the first person we ask when we need a sitter.
Always our go to when we go out of town. She's the best!
Wrote very detailed agendas when with my pet and continued to show love during all of the visits.
Anita has been so great with my dog Lula and she can be a ball of energy! Anita is very observant of Lula’s health and gives great updates. Anita is diligent to clean Lu’s paws when it’s raining so I don’t come home to a muddy mess 🐾 I can tell she is not only letting her out to potty, but also working on crate training. Lula now goes to where they play looking for her, so they must have fun! Lula enjoys giving kisses and cuddles and I’m so grateful Anita loves my girl up 💕 I feel a lot less stress at work knowing my dog will get the attention she needs. Highly recommend!!

When I am pet sitting I always make sure every pet is accounted for and looks healthy. I also like to send a picture of each pet to their people every day because I find it gives peace of mind. I make sure boxes are scooped, food is fed, and water is refreshed. I will also give any dogs in the household a quick walk (unless otherwise specified) once a day to stretch their legs and get some mental stimulation.
Information Anita Y. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pets are shy and their favourite hiding spots since I like to check on them even when they're hiding. I love as much detail as possible such as their favourite activities, toys, and treats. Do they like being brushed? What is their feeding and exercise routine? Do they need special medication and how often do they need it? Are they afraid of certain colours or noises (such as storms)?
A typical day
For cats and shy dogs I like to greet them when I come in then start tending to the food water and litter box needs. I try not to move too quickly or suddenly so I don't startle them. I'll also clean up any accidents that may have occurred. Then I'll sit quietly for a bit and let them come to me in their time. For excited and friendly cats and dogs I'll throw toys and make sure they get a short walk at least once a day. If they like brushing I'll also brush them a little as well.

I currently am a free-lance pet portrait artist so I am my own boss and therefore have a very flexible schedule so I can check in on animals frequently.
