Hire me & support my orphanage!
Pet care experience
My first pup had epilepsy, so I was inducted into the high maintenance dog mom club early. After he died, I began fostering sick canines and kittens, orphaned neonates, and, my personal favorite: dogs with “behaviors.” I deliver basic and specialized medical care to homeless animals from premie to geriatric. Infant puppies who grow up here are loved, socialized, leash broken and set up with a solid foundation before they leave. Dogs who have been neglected, abused and thrown away are invited to find safety in my pack. I work with these canines to overcome scars left by their former lives, modify undesired behavior, start basic obedience and give them leash manners! Now I am offering myself and any of my applicable skills to dogs WITH homes. By hiring me, you’re also supporting the underdogs, the forgotten dogs, the sick dogs, big and small. I promise I’ll love your animals, whether they’re high maintenance and ill or they just need a walk. If you really want to know who I am and what I stand for, check out my work on Facebook or Instagram. I am flexible. I exercise my pack in the early mornings and clean after breakfast, but can change my schedule around to accommodate if needed. I treat all animals and their homes with love, care and respect. I always meet the dog wherever they are. If they don’t know the leash, I teach them. I am a patient, calm, loving, but firm leader and I subscribe to a philosophy of lifelong learning. Every dog I teach also teaches me, challenges me, and asks for a better version of me.
Reviews
Dear Pet Lovers. I would like to recommend my daughter, Ani Cannon, as a person of deep integrity and intuitive understanding of dogs. She is kind, hard working, physically fit and knowledgeable. She has recently found her niche working with medically fragile dogs. For instance, beyond taking in premature puppies needing bottle feeding and sick dogs with worms, she took in and eventually adopted a very special dog whom she named Rio. As a puppy, he was rescued from a barn and found to have severe neurological problems. Rio came into Ani’s care because she had the medical skills and the heart to care for his complex needs. Most importantly, she gave Rio a loving dog home amongst a friendly and ever-changing family of dog friends. She soon realized that Rio would benefit from physical therapy to help him walk efficiently so she had a fundraiser for him called Dumplings for Donations. She made homemade Chinese dumplings and supplied them with a homemade dipping sauce to each donor. She raised $1000 for Rio who, yes, got top rate physical therapy. That... is dedication. Rio was with her for several years before he died but those years were good ones for Ani and Rio. Ani did her best to keep Rio healthy but Rio worked hard too. He gave as much as he got by being the ”puppy dad”. He could not walk but he could keep those puppies safe and teach them how to be dogs. He was always on the job and took his duties seriously. Rio is forever in Ani’s heart and in mine too. There are so many more stories to tell, and I wish I had time to tell you about Pistachio and Farley Eugene and all the other dogs Ani has loved and been loved by. Luckily, she has a Facebook blog called Ani’s Orphans where you can read all the stories. As for me, I am proud to be her mother.
Ani lives to help animals! She works harder than anyone I know to give the dogs she cares for the best experience. She is very experienced with all types of dogs; neonates, special needs, even those with some behavioral issues. She will provide the absolute best care, just like they were her own!
