COVID-19 update: as of May 08, 2021 I am fully vaccinated, yay! I'll still wear a mask to any meet and greet to keep you safe :) Working harder so that I can give my cats the luxurious lifestyle they demand - ha! I have worked as a vet assistant for five years in busy small animal clinics in Portland, Boise, and Vancouver, then moved into a corporate office position for a while until COVID hit. Now I'm back to that clinic life, working in Portland! Please do read about my schedule as I realize with long work hours it does not work for everyone. I am comfortable administering medication if needed, both oral and subcutaneous, as well as taking care of senior or special needs pets. Because of my clinical background I can keep an eye out for some general odd behaviors - difficulty or painful urinating, scratching at ears or licking often, etc - and let you know about them. For safety reasons, please be up front about any nervous/aggressive behavior, especially with giving meds - "love bites" do count! If it happens, I may either keep trying after using a muzzle, or stop trying to give the medication, depending on the situation. Please be aware that I do charge per day, and that shown prices on Rover are base rates per night- I'll need to manually adjust for per day. Please make sure that all pets that need care are included on your profile and selected for the stay. I also require a meeting in person for new clients to make sure that your pet will like me, and so need at least a week beforehand to schedule up a meet and greet. For pets that need multiple check ins per day, I recommend booking an overnight stay, as they automatically include 2-3 visits per day, and just let me know that you don't need me to stay the night. I do reserve the right to adjust things depending on what's needed, so let's chat and figure out what you're looking for! Currently I am working full time in-clinic, and my work schedule is Mon, Tues, Fri 7:30-6:30ish and Sat 9:30-3:30ish. End times vary depending on how the day goes, it's just the nature of the job, but because of the long days during the week I understand it doesn't work for many dogs out there, but I wanted you to be aware of that before you send me a request! I only take one overnight stay at a time, and I don't let households mingle - too many safety concerns there for my comfort! The way I see things, the primary focus of being hired as a petsitter is to make sure that your pets are kept safe until you get back home. Ideally, this means reducing events where something might happen, such as your pet escaping or getting in an altercation with another, so I prefer to stay within your property during my stay. I understand this may be boring for your pet, but it grants us the best safety. That being said, if you do request a walk of course I will! We will stay within your neighborhood, and I will not go to a dog park - too many unknown factors, and I've had enough clinical experiences with dog park events.
