Large breed friendly!

Pet care experience

I’ve worked for more than a decade both on my own and for companies that provide dog walking & pet care/sitting/training services. I love all animals, but over the years I’ve found myself specializing in large dogs. Many people who think they can handle a large dog find themselves surprised at just how strong and difficult to handle (even if they’re super sweet pups) big dogs are. I’m 6’7” and a former D1 athlete, and walking/caring for 200+ pound dogs is routine for me. The biggest dog I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with was a 225lb Bull Mastiff named Gus, and I was one of two people at that facility who could handle him. He wasn’t problematic—just ENORMOUS. I’ve also trained all my own animals and offer basic training services on a case-by-case basis. I am NOT a high-volume professional dog trainer. I primarily help friends/family train their own dogs.

Andy is THE person to have watch your beloved dog. Being a dog trainer myself, I am hesitant on who to have watch our two dogs Toby & Twist when our family is unable to. Especially because i have seen first hand some of the horrors of boarding places. For this reason, Andy is ALWAYS our first choice when we need someone to watch Toby & Twist because we know our dogs are treated like family there. They’ll get plenty exercise, have relaxing days, and you won’t think twice about how good of a time they are having. I highly recommend Andy (just don’t ask him on the days we need him!!! 😉)

Looking for an energetic, millennial dog dad? Andy’s your guy. As an athletic trainer surrounded by operant learning and dog training professionals, your baby will get all of the exercise and training they need from Andy. He’s honest and reliable and treats every dog as he would his own. Myself and his neighbor/landlord work in animal rescue, and Andy’s had great experience learning the process of gently getting new pups acclimated and comfortable around people. He knows dog safety measures, can administer meds, and can give CPR. He appreciates the full spectrum of dog personalities, from lazy cuddle bug, to spicy rambunctious babies. Hire him today- he’s qualified and totally overeducated for the job, and simply doing it for the love of dogs & cats.

*An initial meet & greet is MANDATORY* Pets that stay in our home will receive the same love and privileges as our pets. They’ll be allowed on furniture (unless they are not allowed on furniture at home and you would like that enforced here as well) and will have frequent access to the backyard as needed. Sheeba is our 50 pound rescue mutt who loves having other dogs around her. Bella is our 14 pound cat who will stay away from your dogs until she’s comfortable—but once she’s comfortable she’s fearless. She has plenty of perches to get up and away from dogs who won’t leave her alone. Please be aware that Bella never, ever uses her claws unless she feels threatened—but she does have all her claws. The first time Sheeba came home, Bella popped her on the nose with her paw (no claws) when she got too close. I’m genuinely impressed by the restraint Bella shows with using her claws. She’d rather curl up and nap on top of a dog than argue with them 🤷🏼‍♂️

Let me know if your pup needs any special attention. I can administer most medications, accommodate most special diets, and am experienced with dogs that have behavioral issues. All special circumstances will be discussed and considered on a case-by-case basis.
