Ever since I was in grade school, we have had dogs. My first dog, a Springer Spaniel mix lived to be nearly 16. I have an elderly dog that is very high maintenance and hard-of-hearing that is probably 16 or 17 years old that has her own area away from other dogs. I made sure the dog has a diaper on her because she has back-leg problems and also a diaper-keeper because she enjoys pulling off the diaper. Also, I have to keep track of her meds so I am very devoted and also very conscientious. I feel obligated to making this dog's life as pleasant as possible and also to take care her of her as long as she needs my help and I come home from work at lunch to check on her if I am not off that day. Venus was with us until April and we got a new dog a few months ago.
