Pet care experience
I've taken care of my own dogs, my parents dogs, my grandparents dogs, and my friends dogs since I was quite little. I wanted to be a vet when I grew up, so started learning how to give insulin shots to my grandmother's diabetic dog when I was 8 or so; worked at a vet clinic as a tech from 14-18, interned for a few different vets through college, and ended up getting my degree in equine teaching and training. I've owned dogs my entire life and am very comfortable dealing with dogs that have special needs. I have had a few with health problems like diabetes (grandmother's), epilepsy (mom's), and fear based aggression (dad's), and trained two dogs to be service dogs.
Reviews
I was hesitant about using Rover, but Andy made any worries fall away instantly upon meeting her. She is knowledgeable about dogs, communicative and smart. She’s stellar and you will feel good about handing over the leash. And for reference I wrote a book about dogs, have a dog podcast and run a rescue….so I’m a little picky!!
Andy is the best! She helped care for my 5-month-old puppy while I was away on a work trip. She was great at keeping him entertained, both through engaging play and training practice. Even better, she was stellar at recapping their time together - which gave me great peace of mind :)
This was a last minute reservation due to my dog Anna having an upset tummy and Andy was kind enough to fit us in. She cleaned up the mess in our house that Anna had made and then took her out for a short walk. She made sure to make Anna comfortable and to help assuage her fears about being, "a bad dog." Andy went above and beyond the call of duty today, Anna and I really appreciate her!
I took my time and screened a lot of potential candidates before I found Andy. She is a natural empath for animals and my cat Gus is not great at meeting new people. Andy knows how to adjust her energy to get in sync with animals.. its an obvious and rare talent. I will be requesting Andy exclusively for all of my travels, she is a great communicator and is a genuine and trustworthy person.

I'm fully capable and confident to do whatever needs done for dog walk breaks, to help work on training, or to drop by for doggy play time during the middle of the days.

Medication needs, special needs, favorite toys, commands, treats to avoid, triggers to avoid, any training you'd like worked on (or not!), walk routes that are good

I love to take our dogs to Balls Bluff Battleground and walk them around out there — fun history and outside time! Tug of war and fetch are a favorite of Essie's as well — Max prefers to watch!

I currently take my dog to the barn with me every day after breakfast while I ride my two horses (she is fully trained off leash) and we'll go for a 1-2 mile walk through the woods after. Then we get home and I'll work for a bit, then take her on another walk or out in the back yard to go run around and play. We'll usually have two more play breaks before dinner, then another one or two after dinner. We usually go on a hike in brand new environments every Saturday for a few miles, as well.
