I’m Andrew and I love dogs. Their outlook on life, ability to live through their passion, and loyalty to the ones they love makes them beautiful creatures and our best friends! I started working with dogs because I feel that I communicate on their level and simply love being around them. I can’t wait to get to know the wonderful dogs of Portland. Growing up, there was always a dog around and I even used to have a 100 pound Wolfdog named Lakota (aka "Daisy"). As an owner, you’ll love that in addition to my personal experience with dogs, I have been a foster parent for several special needs dogs, volunteered at shelters across the country (including the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter ), have worked in a dog sledding kennel in Colorado, and have wrangled packs of 50 dogs at a doggy day camp in Oregon. I’ve also been the go-to house and dog sitter for friends with several dogs at once. For as friendly and affable as I am with humans, I still believe I get along with dogs better. In addition to my experience with dogs, I’ve cared for and been around the full gamut of farm animals and house pets. I would be happy to care for any of these animals through Rover. I understand how hard it is to be away from your furry friend so I practice open and clear communication. I treat my client's dogs with more Risk Management than most people treat their own dogs. I keep them as safe as I can and focus not only on their exercise and basic needs, but also on their mental stimulation. I inquire about and address needs, and respond to messages efficiently. When I’m not pet sitting, I love getting outdoors on the rivers and trails in the Westside Forests and I prefer having dogs with me for those activities! I’m also an avid guitar player. My pup Lakota used to stand in front of me and howl away songs. I would love to have your pup join me in some canine crooning.
