Pet care experience
I’ve owned two beagles growing up and have previous experience caring for my family and friends' dogs when they’re away. Currently, I’m the proud parent to a pointer rescue. Safety and comfort are my two greatest priorities when working with any dog. As a dog owner and sitter, I've invested a great deal of time in understanding dogs' body language and behaviors to develop a personal and intuitive understanding with those in my care. As such, I am a big proponent of positive training methods and compassionate care! I find that I work best with small to medium dog breeds.

Andrew has a naturally calm disposition that dogs gravitate towards. He instantly befriends most dogs and is gentle and kind when training. He never raises his voice at dogs and has spent a lot of time educating himself on animal behavior in order to better understand how to care for and train dogs efficiently and without aggression. Andrew is very attentive when dog sitting and will do everything he can to ensure your pup feels safe and comfortable while you are away.

I aim to be gentle and friendly when visiting new dogs. In home visits, I make sure to be respectful of you and your dog’s space and ensure I have a good understanding of everyone’s boundaries.
Information Andrew L. would like to know about your pet
Before sitting, the first thing I'd like to know is schedule. A consistent dog is a happy dog, after all! I'd also like to know a brief history of the pet and their temperament to keep the both of us safe and secure (e.g. if they are shy or timid, their level of socialization, any events that might produce anxiety or aggression, possessive behaviors). Knowing previous training techniques that the pet has been acclimated to and confirmations of vaccinations and treatments being up to date would be helpful as well.
A typical day
For dogs that are up for it, I’m happy to go on runs around the grass to get some extra energy out. I also recognize the importance of mental stimulation, so sniff walks work great for those who are less interested in runs.

Availability
I’m available in late mornings through the early evening most days (up to around 6pm). Shorter evening visits can be arranged, but may need to be discussed, as my dog has her own schedule in the evenings.
