Dog passed last year; happy to help

Pet care experience

Andrew and Jess!! My (Andrew's) mother was an AKC toy poodle breeder for 30 years so we had dogs in the house my entire life. Growing up we had a Golden Retriever for 12 years who patrolled the back yard and then a Great Dane in my teens that my brothers and I used to ride...LOL. My little buddy toy poodle of 14 years passed in November 22'. After living and working in Yellowstone National Park in part of 2023 I returned home and figured was time for some liveliness in the apartment. I am doing this now full time not working from home on another job. We can clean ears and wrinkles, clip nails or bath and groom (Wahl clippers) most pups if needed. Overall, happy to see to any care needed and have experience giving medications with either food (peanut butter or your choice), syringe and eye drops and happy to keep up any current care needs. We are big on washing water and food bowls daily. Important to note, we give 100% photo and even video updates, but some folks just like them texted vs. Rover email and the app. Please note we can take up to 2 dogs at a time and be from different households so if you want your pup to be the only dog we watch, we'd be happy to discuss dates/costs. Now with over 60+ bookings without incident, we've learned it's key to be flexible as sometimes flights are delayed or dates need changing and can overlap with boardings. We can do last minute but prefer to meet everyone and their pups ahead of time so you can see our place and we can make sure it's the right fit.

Andrew and Jessica took such wonderful care of senior chihuahua mix, Posey. She was happy and loved, as we could see from the photos. We’ve already booked them again!

Such a great experience! I thought from the pictures Khaleesi would not want to come home, they brought her right into their family! I loved all the pictures. Thank you! So glad I’ve already got more booking reserved!!!

We're happy to treat and look after your pups to your liking and wishes, albeit length of time outside, where they sleep, interactions with people and other dogs and not afraid to clean up or wipe a butt. We pay attention to sounds, watch when they are eating and are conscientious of behaviors that seem odd. With recently having a senior dog that I stayed home with his last 5 years, carrying him downstairs and hand feeding him when ill was all I knew to do. Let me know if you ever want to rent the Bissell Revolution carpet wet vacuum I have, it works great for urine and overall carpet shampooing. Pet CPR courses offered are a bit gimmicky (35 mins online ect.) I am a FEMA CERT member here in Hermosa Beach and LA County which entailed 8 weeks with the LAFD and am knowledgeable on what to do in case of emergencies regarding buildings, people and pets. I also have Pediatric/Adult CPR and AED certification through 2025 (see photos in gallery). I stay very diligent and aware on walks. I keep all dogs I watch close to me when walking and your dogs safety and well-being is my utmost priority. We're always looking out for things as simple as foxtail grass or picking up dead animals (something I've seen on walks with others.) Also, not on the phone when walking dogs but paying attention.

Information Andrew & Jessica W. would like to know about your pet

Any current issues, behavior and personality type. If good with other animals and people in general and of course diet, snacks info. Any other pertinent information such as VET and emergency contacts. Dogs should be up to date on registration, vaccinations and any medical conditions, allergies, or medications will be needed. We keep some treats, #2 bags, toys and a small dog bed but always good to bring yours. See below a guide to some of the information I think will be helpful for us both. FOOD - Feeding times (Quantity/Frequency) ( ie. 1 cup dry food, twice a day 8 am then 5 pm) - Treats ( restrictions ie. no poultry) - Water (is it removed certain time?) OK to drink from public troths/bowls? - Do you put them somewhere special to eat? Keep out of kitchen, OK with table scraps? OUTSIDE - # walks/exercise; (do you run them?) - Commands (what are they? used when? command style voice and demeanor) - Leash length, slack and top shoulder hold? - Other dog interactions? People, Kids? - # of potty trips/length, Exact time needed? - Morning outside time? Last time out at night? - Need assistance (Stairs?) - When walking , stop their pulling, walk next to or behind? REST - Sleep times; Sleep location (bed, floor) PERSONALITY - if Mixed, what breeds exactly? - Likes to be handled, petted, OK to pick up? - Any place doesn't like to be touched? - Ever been over aggressive to anyone or other animals? - What kind of barking can I expect? Any crying or whining other noises to listen for? - Doggie door trained/pee pad trained is not “house trained”; will they try to mark inside? PLAY - Things they like most, in house and outside play - Toys and favorite game, tug o war?!

A typical day

We walk the Greenbelt and Strand and live behind Clark Field off 11th so a ton of open space close by. I'm a former competitive marathoner and get out for regular runs on the Greenbelt so also happy to run any of the dogs if you'd like. Mostly though we abide by you the owner's expectations and routines and ask for a daily schedule to maintain continuity for the dog's sake as being away from their owners can be stressful enough.

Availability

We don't have a yard BUT Clark Field is right behind the apartment and we're a minute walk to the Greenbelt and Strand. I'm home all day if not out for a quick run or grabbing groceries. Jess is a toy designer and WFH Wed and Friday so we're always around and we both prioritize and provide a lot of care. We don't have plants in the house and are cognizant on keeping kitchen items (chemicals ect.) or anything a dog could get into secure. We have a great little patio as well with a full wall sliding glass door, so for those dogs that love the sun or need some fresh air, it's a great little spot.
