Pet care experience

I credit my first dog Otis for my love and passion for dogs. Professional dog training was out of the question; but four year old Andrea wanted her dog trained nonetheless. So began, with the help of my supportive parents, the journey to become a dog trainer. When Otis passed away when I was 16, the dream did not die. It wasn't long before my family wanted another dog and that was when we rescued Elvis from the New Haven Animal Shelter. Elvis presented many behavioral problems ranging from food aggression, submissive urination, and separation anxiety (all of which I'd never encountered) in addition to having zero obedience training. Elvis I can credit with re-lighting the flame to be a dog trainer. Using training methods I learned from various sources, my own training methods, and patience I trained Elvis to be a fantastic companion. Upon graduating from Oxford High School I started attending Naugatuck Valley Community College for Criminal Justice and Animal Behavioral College for Dog Training. Originally, dog training was to be my "back up" career. After working for two Dog Trainers and a Veterinarian in Southbury, CT I decided my "back up" was my passion and life is to short to work a job you don't love. I finished my studies at Animal Behavior College and apprenticed with a fantastic trainer in New Fairfield. After years of working with friends, family, and acquaintances I decided to take the leap and make Pet Care my full time career.
