I have been a pet owner since 1999, and been pet sitting since 2009. Right now I have a wonderful scaredy cat who needs prescription food and takes (tries to spit out) medicine twice a day. But my family owned a dog we rescued in the park, abandoned at just 10ish weeks old. We bought her home and said we would take her to an adoption facility the next day. Three days later we knew we could never give her up and got special permission from our landlord to keep her. We were so lucky every day of the 14 years of her life. We still can't get another dog four years later because we were so so in love with her. When she was younger she was an escape artist, and so strong. At 7 years old my parents hired someone to leash train her, and it became my job to walk her every day. One day she ran off chasing a squirrel dragging me up a gravel driveway, but I did not let go! Now, I'm much stronger and knowledgeable than I was as 7, although I admire my past dedication and love for her. I could tell a million stories about the times we had with her. And I could tell a million more about my very affectionate, but picky, kitty. If my name were Mary she would be my little lamb. I believe every animal deserves every second of love and attention. Unfortunately, to provide for them, we have to leave them alone sometimes. This is where I come in. I'm not their mommy or daddy, but I can love them as if they were my own pet and hope they feel more comfortable while mommy and/or daddy are away.
