The little dog house
Pet care experience
I am an animal behaviorist and have spent many years working side-by-side with veterinarians and vet techs. This allowed me the opportunity to learn to care for dogs, cats, and horses who are sick or injured. In addition, this is where I learned and used CPR and various dog handling techniques (among other important and useful skills). in addition, I have spent many years working with horses in various capacities (teaching children to ride, therapeutic riding assistant, summer camp wranglers, horse exercising, etc). I also have worked with animals through partnerships with several world-famous zoos, US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service and private conservation societies involved with care and protection of endangered species. This is where I did my training and research for my PhD in Animal Behavior. Finally, I have also done quite a bit of paid pet sitting over the years (dogs and cats mostly). I have experience working with dogs, cats, horses, rodents, amphibians, reptiles and birds. My dog, a long-haired chihuahua (Bandito) is 8 years old. He loves playing with other dogs. He is a champion of fetch and is a “fierce” little competitor when it comes to playing and keeping up with larger dogs. He is a sweetie and loves making new friends. We have one cat, Cleopatra (17 years). Cleo likes to hang out in the basement until the dog(s) fall asleep. Your little pup will have a great time chasing bunnies and squirrels in our large fenced backyard (see pictures), visiting the many fire hydrants during walks in my neighborhood (lots of dogs in my area...lots of hydrants to sniff!), and we are close to a fantastic dog park (field trip!). My house is smoke free and animal friendly. Your pet(s) will be treated with lots of love and care - just like one of my own precious furry family members. In my home, our pets are family. I am easy to reach and will gladly send updates & pictures! Hours of operation: Day care: 6:00am-8:00pm Boarding: Boarding is a 24-hour block of service. Extra time beyond 25 hours will be billed as doggie daycare for the day in question. Late fee: late fee of $20 will be assessed if an owner is more than 30 minutes late past pick-up window established by sitter.

Pipster seemed very happy. I got pictures and he got to sleep in her bed. Will definitely use again
Amy does a great job. She is trustworthy and good with our dog. I have used her several times. And will again!
Amy has watched our dog several times and we have been very happy with her communication and daily pictures while we are away. She provides a comfortable environment where our dog feels at home and is given a lot of personal attention which he loves. Amy is very professional and is very knowledgeable about pets and their needs and behaviors.
Amy was amazing! She took such great care of our sweet Pomeranian Mary. She was treated like the family and fit right in. My dog has bad separation anxiety and needs a person to be around her all the time and Amy was more than willing to step up to that role. She sent us tons of photos assuring us Mary was in good hands. We would definitely use Amy again if needed and would recommend her to anyone!

Information Amy U. would like to know about your pet
We accept only small dogs in our home. Important for us: What is your dog’s personality like? Is he/she potty trained? How well does your dog do with school-aged children? Is your pup up to date on vaccinations and flea treatment (in warm months). I highly encourage a meet & great before your dogs first stay.
A typical day
My neighborhood is a nice, quiet, and prime for a variety of walking routes and is somewhat "hilly". If your dog likes to play fetch, we've got plenty of tennis balls! Bandito is also a good playmate, as well as my son. I will keep your dog well cared for while you are away. I do offer grooming as an add on. This includes bathing, combing, drying, and nail clipping (if the dog tolerates it well).
